North Korea and Nukes

North Korea is supposed to have set off a nuclear bomb this weekend. The bomb they set off was much less than most experts expected. But, it did go off and was measured in South Korea and in the US.

The newest member of the nuclear club is deranged. The country is bankrupt and people are starving. It is a massive foreign aid program that will happen as soon as the government collapses. When that will happen will be when Kim Il Song dies. The sooner he passes on to his just reward, the better.

When he dies the country becomes more unstable. Anything might happen after Kim dies and before a new government takes over. It would be possible for the nuclear technology to "leave" the country as nuclear devices or as nuclear scientists. That would be terrible for the world to have the nuclear technology they developed get out and pollute the terrorist organizations. We do not need nukes in the hands of terrorists. That would lead to vast quantities of people losing their lives to nuclear explosions.

We have to do something to North Korea to let them and the world know that we will not stand for this action. We cannot invade, we do not have enough troops in the area. It would take too long to assemble enough troops. We could bomb the nuclear making units in question. That would be an act of war and would lead to North Korea invading South Korea with a high loss of life. We could threaten Kim Il Song. That would only be effective if we were willing to carry it out. I am not sure we have the will to carry out anything we might tell KIm in a letter.

Our only option seems to be to blockage the ports of North Korea. Stop all ships that go in or out of North Korea. Allow only food into North Korea and nothing out of North Korea. That would hurt them economically. It would hasten the demise of the dictatorship in North Korea. They could not survive for long with only food coming in and nothing going out. North Korea is hanging by a thread now, economicallly. Any interruption to their current cash-flow situation, would be devastating.
