Huckabee steps in it again

Right now in the Republican primary season, there is a big flap about being a Christian. The flap is occurring between Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. Mike Huckabee is making the charge that Mormons are not Christians and that he is a Christian Leader. That hints that Mitt Romney is not a Christian or a Christian Leader, I am not sure which.

Who wins in this argument? Rudy Giuliani wins when this argument goes on. He can stand above the fray and say that the argument is childish. The argument is childish as to whether Mormons are Christians. But, it is like throwing red meat to the lions when you talk about Mormons being Christians. Evangelical Christians just cannot abide thinking that Mormons are Christians. They will stop everything else and fight about that.

I think this entire thing is a plan cooked up by Mike Huckabee and Rudy Giuliani. Mike Huckabee agreed to get into this fight to let Rudy Giuliani look Presidential by being out of the discussion. Then when the flap dies down and Rudy is selected as the Republican Presidential candidate, he will select Mike Huckabee as his Vice-President. Mike Huckabee covers Rudy’s vulnerable spots. Where Rudy is strong, Huckabee is weak. Where Huckabee is strong, Rudy is weak. They go together quite well. Unfortunately, they also are big government Republicans. We need small government Republicans on our ticket this time around.

The time is running short on the primaries. New Hampshire is already starting to vote. Mitt Romney will win there going away. But that will not be announced until after the Iowa Caucus. The issue was diminishing when Mike Huckabee made a comment that Mormons believe that Jesus and Satan are brothers. If you want to get technical, all of us are brothers and sisters. We were all formed in the pre-existence by the Father before we came to this Earth. Jesus is the only begotten of the Father in the flesh. Satan is the exact opposite of what Jesus stands for.

Mike Huckabee made the comment about Jesus and Satan to keep the controversy alive. He wants to make sure there is a wedge driven between Mitt Romney and Evangelical Christians. It does favor him when he does that because Evangelical Christians will tend to favor him when separated from someone that shares their values. He is a former Baptist Preacher. That means a lot of Evangelical Christians are going to say that he will share their values. He does on social issues. He does not share their values on economic or world issues. On economic and world issues, Mike Huckabee is a liberal after the vein of Mrs. Bill Clinton. After all, the Clintons and Mike Huckabee come from the same state. They would share many of the same ideas. It just stands to reason.

If things do not get turned around soon, it could be bad for Mitt Romney. Things were looking good and he was on the inside track for the nomination until Mike Huckabee played the bigot card. Once the bigot card got played, we have been straining at gnats. All the while Rudy Giuliani has been standing off to the side with a grin on his face watching his rivals cut each other up.

Rush Limbaugh says that Mike Huckabee gave Mitt Romney the high ground when he made his Jesus/Satan comment. Mitt Romney came out with a statement that basically said that it was in bad taste to attack someone for their religion. That is a takeoff from his speech of last week. Huckabee does seem willing to sink to any depth to disparage Mitt Romney and his religion.

When will those that support him see that he is not running for President of the United States? They have to see that he is only trying to destroy one candidate, not trying to become the nominee for President, himself. He is poorly prepared for most things. He constantly has to defend some stupid thing he said in the past. He is not a serious candidate for President. He is just a side show that is there to embarrass other candidates and maybe get a Vice-Presidential pick out of it.
