Preserve the Constitution

On the way to work, I heard a report from Jason Lewis on the Rush Limbaugh show that Mrs. Clinton said she would preserve the Constitution. His reaction was one of amazement. She has continually wanted to abuse the Constitution by adding this program or that program to it. She is even adding health insurance to the federal government. How could someone who wants to add health insurance to the federal government possibly think that she is going to preserve the Constitution?

As Jason Lewis said, “you (meaning Mrs. Clinton) have to read the Constitution first.” The Constitution specifically states that the federal government has specific duties. It also says that all duties not expressly given to it by the Constitution are reserved for the people and the states. They are not the responsibility of the federal government. If you look at what our federal government does now, you would discover that probably half are things it is not supposed to do.

How did things get so bad? It all has to do with the commerce clause. The commerce clause is not actually part of the main part of the Constitution. It is part of the filling part between sections. As such, it is not meant to be a controlling part of the document. The controlling parts of the Constitution are the articles, not the parts leading up to the articles. The Supreme Court ruled in the 1930’s that the commerce clause controlled interstate commerce. So, the House and Senate grabbed onto that ruling and decided that everything is part of the commerce clause. As Justice Thomas said, “if that is what it means the federal government has unlimited power.” The Constitution was written to put limits on the power of the federal government.

I would hope that Mrs. Clinton HAS had a change of heart and really means to preserve the Constitution. If she does, she would repudiate her socialized health care and almost everything else she has advocated. Of course, she would have to become a Republican because no Democrat could hold those positions and be elected to anything. Making such a dramatic change in position would really mark her as a flip flopper. It would finish her political career. Nobody would believe that she had made that change and vote for her. Those that would normally vote for her would not vote for her because they could not take the chance that she had actually changed.

The statement that she is going to preserve the Constitution was just a throw away line. It was put in there to fool people into believing that she actually believes in the Constitution. Anyone who knows anything knows that she does not believe in the Constitution. She believes more in the Communist Manifesto than she does in the Constitution of the United States of America. Any politician that runs for office in the United States has to make sounds like he/she believes in the Constitution. If they don’s make the statement in support of the Constitution, people will think that they are not supporting the US. But, anyone knows that no Democrat politician actually believes in the Constitution as written. They always talk about a “living” Constitution. By that, they mean that they can change the Constitution to mean anything they want it to mean any time they want to.

We need to get back to teaching the Constitution in the schools. Every student that graduates from high school should know what the Constitution says and that it gives us a Constitutional Republic, not a Democracy. If people really understood the Constitution they would not fall for the Democrat’s lies about health care and the like. Taxes would be lower and we would be a freer people. Ah, for such a dream.
