Yesterday, the Democrat party held primaries in North Carolina and Indiana. Barack Obama won easily in North Carolina. Mrs. Clinton won narrowly in Indiana. That means that Barack Obama increased his delegate lead over Mrs. Clinton after the voting yesterday. Barring a major lightning strike, Barack Obama has secured the Democrat nomination for President. He will still need Super Delegates to actually get the nomination, but with the lead in real delegates he will get the Super Delegates.
What does that mean for the general election? We can expect to have six months of racial politics. Every criticism of Barack Obama by anybody will be racial. His supporters will be saying that anyone who does not support Barack Obama is a racist. I think that the majority of the population will be tired of this kind of talk by August. That is not the kind of talk that wins elections.
Another problem Barack Obama has is Michelle Obama. She is the most negative campaigner that I can remember. She has nothing good to say about America or Americans. She does tend to dress like a clown or at least in outlandish clothing. If she wants to be taken seriously, she needs to dress seriously. Cindy McCain dresses much more in line with what people expect of a first lady. She is also much more positive when talking about America and Americans. That will have an impact in the election. Positive campaigning wins over negative campaigns most of the time.
From now to the conventions we have to listen to the main stream media build up Barack Obama as something he is not. It is obvious that he is not what the main stream media think he is because that has been brought out by Mrs. Clinton. The drive by media will try to brush it under the rug and get people to forget what they know.
Barack Obama does have some potential bombshells waiting for him out there. The first is Tony Rezko. The trial of Tony Rezko is wrapping up next week. If Tony Rezko is found guilty and he is facing a long prison term, he may start to talk. If he talks, he could put a big hole right in the middle of the Obama campaign ship. We know that Rezko and Obama are friends. We know that Rezko and Obama did business deals together. We know that Rezko raised money for Obama in his campaigns. What we do not know is how all of that ties together. If Tony Rezko can swing a deal for less prison time he may talk and sink Obama.
The other problem for Barack Obama is Jeremiah Wright. The Reverend Wright is not a problem in the Democrat primaries because what he said is what Democrats believe about America. The problem comes in the general election. What Jeremiah Wright said as Obama’s minister was anti-American, racist and anti-Semitic. That will be a harder sell in the general election than it was in the primaries. In the primaries, a lot of the voters were black. They were going to vote for Barack Obama no matter what. In the general election black voters only make up 10% of the voting block. It is nice to know you have that 10% locked up before you even start, but it is only 10%. The majority of voters are white. Having a President that could not identify that his minister was preaching anti-American, racist and anti-Semitic sermons would be a problem. If he could not identify that, what problems would he have trouble with as President.
Obama supporters will cry racism whenever their candidate is criticized. That is not accurate. Criticism of Obama is not criticism of the person, it is criticism of the ideas that the person is advocating. If Barack Obama were supporting a conservative agenda, conservatives would vote for him in huge numbers. Barack Obama is a candidate farther to the left than any candidate in our nation’s history. He is so far to the left that he is almost in the communist category. I am not calling him a communist. I am just saying that many of his beliefs are very close to those of the communist party. That is why the communist party is not running a candidate this year. Both Clinton and Obama were so close to their position that they felt it better to support the Democrat candidate than nominate their own.
Now, McCain is not my preferred candidate. He is not even a good candidate. He just is so much better than Obama about the War against Islamo-Fascism and appointing judges. That is why I will be voting for McCain over Obama. I supported a number of other Republican candidates before McCain in the Republican primaries.
