The memo that came out from the Department of Homeland Security this week still troubles me. The thought that those who were considered patriotic Americans for over 200 years are now thought to be potential subversives is disturbing. How could we get this way so fast? Just a couple of months ago, patriotic Americans were celebrated. Now, they are looked at as potential terrorists. There is something wrong with that picture. What happened in the intervening time to cause that to happen? Two things happened since January to cause these events to happen; the swearing in of Barack Hussein Obama and the selection of Janet Napolitano as the head of the Department of Homeland Security.
When Janet Napolitano was selected as the head of Homeland Security, I did not think that she was the right person for the job. I was more concerned about her lack of concern for the borders and said so at the time. She was at best a poor Governor of Arizona. She did almost everything wrong and in a ham handed way. That is the way she has been handling the Department of Homeland Security.
Way back in the dark ages when I was in college, there was a book called the Peter Principle. The Peter Principle said that people rise to their level of incompetence. It was talking about their rise in the business world, but it also applies to politics. The difference is that in politics, you can fool the public into voting for you, even if you are incompetent. Just look at Maxine Waters, she has to be the least intelligent person in the Congress. She gets re-elected from her district with wide margins. The same can be said for Barbara Boxer. She has to be the least intelligent person in the Senate. Yet, she gets re-elected in California. Both have exceeded their Peter Principle level of incompetence by a wide margin.
Janet Napolitano did ok as an Attorney General. She handled the cases fairly and generally there were few complaints. When she became Governor, she was obviously in over her head. She was able to fool the public into voting for her for a second term. Then, she managed to back Barack Obama in the beginning, so she was picked for Homeland Security. In Homeland Security, she has no clue how to run the department with any degree of efficiency. This report that defames veterans and other patriotic Americans is a result of her incompetence.
Janet Napolitano came out to answer questions about the report yesterday. She made motions toward making amends about the report, but her only example of a returning veteran was Timothy McVeigh. I am sorry, that is not an apology. She basically said that she agreed with the report and everyone could stick it in their ear. Now she used nice sounding words that will fool the main stream press, but the meaning was unmistakable.
The people responsible for this despicable report, especially Janet Napolitano, should be fired, immediately. Unfortunately, their boss is Barack Obama and he most likely, at the very least, is sympathetic with the thrust of the report. Janet Napolitano will not be fired by Barack Obama unless there is massive public outcry for her to be fired. The good thing about this report is that it opened some people’s eyes. They were fooled by Barack Obama and were still trying to give him a chance. When the report came out and they found out that they were being targeted as possible terrorists, they had the last straw. Now, they will never vote for another Democrat again. That is a good thing. We need to rid ourselves of this Democrat scourge as soon as possible. I just hope we are not too late in riding ourselves of this problem.
