From the previous post, I do not want anyone to think that I do not think Obama should have attended the memorial. I believe that Barack Obama should have been there. It was his job as Commander in Chief to be present when military personnel are brought back from a war. I was objecting to the publicity he was taking for being there, not for his presence in the first place.
Despite my personal feelings for Barack Obama he should attend events such as this memorial for the Navy Seals. But, he also should abide by the wishes of the families of the fallen servicemen just like everyone else. In the United States, our President is not above the law. That means that our President should be bound by the same restraints that any other citizen would be operating under.Of course, there are times and situations where his responsibility will mean he gets to do things that ordinary citizens cannot do. That is the nature of his office. But the person of President is still bound by the same laws and restrictions that ordinary citizens are bound.
