Jimmy Hoffa steps in it, The White House and Democrats endorse his remarks

Yesterday at a Presidential speech, Jimmy Hoffa made reference to the Tea Party and those that support any Tea Party ideas in terms that are unacceptable in this medium. He said that we were at war and that the “workers” were going to win that war. This was all in an introduction of Barack Obama to give a speech in regard to Labor Day.

When Barack Obama took the podium, he acknowledged Jimmy Hoffa’s remarks and did not disavow their vitriolic nature. On the Today Show this morning, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz also did not disavow the vitriolic nature of Jimmy Hoffa’s remarks. In fact, as of this writing, the White House and the Democrat Party have not remarked at all on Jimmy Hoffa’s comments. Their silence is considered approval of the intent and the nature of the comments.

After the shooting in January of Gabrielle Giffords, the left was beside themselves on how people need to be more civil in their remarks in public. If people use bad language or explosive talk, you might get a crazy person to act on those words and cause more killings. Within a few days of the shootings, the left was back using very bad language to describe the conservatives in this country. The reason for that is that the left views the right as “evil”. Anything you say against “evil” is acceptable and in keeping with civility. The right views the left as wrong and uses terms to try and persuade the left to change their mind. That is why talk from the right is never as vitriolic as from the left, because we are dealing with people that are incorrect. They are dealing with “evil”.

If you listen to the unions, Democrats or anyone in the current administration, you would think that the only people that do any work in this country are union workers. According to them, non-union people do not do any work or if they work it is stealing it from a union worker. That accounts for a large part of Jimmy Hoffa’s remarks. Also, unions are in a real bind right now. The amount of union workers in the private sector is going down each year. Union workers in the public sector are growing, for now. Many states, counties and cities are putting restrictions on union contracts that will make it less attractive to give to a union. That will cut into the power of the unions. They see that coming and are trying to put the day of reckoning off as long as possible.

In a related note, the Post Office is in severe financial trouble. If drastic action is not taken right now, the Post Office might have to close its doors as soon as this winter or spring. If you look at their finances, you can see the problem staring you in the face. The problem is the union contract they have. If you put the Post Office on a level playing field with private companies that do not have union contracts, they would be able to compete. The union contract is destroying the Post Office. You can go to any company or government agency and see the same scenario playing out over and over. Union contracts are destroying the thing that is paying their wages. Unions cannot see this problem because they are the cause. Governments are just now waking up to the problem. Companies woke up to that problem about 20-25 years ago. Union representation has been going down for at least that long in private business. If you look at any so-called private company with a union contract and I will show you a company on a one way path to destruction.

None of this is excusing Jimmy Hoffa for what he said. That the White House and the Democrat Party want to stand behind such rhetoric is reprehensible. It tells us a lot about who is running the show in the White House and the Democrat Party when such boorish behavior goes unpunished. If the White House or the Democrat Party condemned Jimmy Hoffa for his comments, they could kiss the 2012 elections good-bye. They need union money to get re-elected. So, the unions basically have a blank check with the White House and the Democrats through at least 2012.
