Obama proposes "Millionaire's Tax", oh, goody!

Barack Obama is stuck on his failed jobs bill. Today, he came out and tried to sell his method for “paying” for the jobs bill’s costs. The centerpiece of the method to pay for the cost is a “millionaire’s tax”. This tax will be a minimum tax put on people who earn a million dollars or more per year. Obama has either forgotten or never known that these are the people who run our small businesses. These people employ most of the people in this country. They are the people we will have to rely on if we are going to get out of this recession and lack of jobs. Putting another tax on them will do nothing to improve the jobs situation and will undoubtedly make things worse.

Obama thinks that the government creates jobs. To him, every government job created is a true job. Every private sector job is one that needs to be changed to a public sector job. If he does not believe that, his actions are those of someone who does believe that. In other words, if he wanted to turn all the jobs in the country to government jobs, he would do nothing different than what he has already done to turn all jobs into government jobs.

On KFYI this morning, Barry Young interviewed Ann Coulter. Ann Coulter is my favorite blonde bombshell. She tells it like it is and does not care if you like it or not. Her response to Obama’s talk was to ask the question, “What happened to the last trillion dollars we gave you to create jobs?” That is a great question. The last trillion dollar stimulus bill was to create “shovel-ready” jobs. Since the stimulus was passed, we have lost about a million jobs. So much for the stimulus money creating the jobs it was supposed to do. We are worse off today because of the stimulus than we were before the stimulus was passed. This bill is nearly identical to the last stimulus bill, except for the numbers. The last one was primarily spent to prop up state governments and other union jobs. This bill is designed to do exactly the same thing. The last bill did not solve any problems. The bill just kicked the problems down the road a bit. This bill will not solve any problems. It will just kick those problems down the road a year or so.

Obama and his economic advisors have admitted at various times that they have no idea why the economy is acting like it is. They have been wrong every time they have made a prediction. With a track record like that it sure makes it difficult to believe that these same economists got it right this time. I would rather trust economists that predicted what would happen if we passed the stimulus bill and got it right. They are saying that if we pass this stimulus bill that the same thing will happen this time as happened last time. In other words, unions will get pensions and benefits covered for about another year or so and no jobs will get created. In fact, the likelihood is that there will be less American jobs after one year than there are today. Translating that into English, if we pass this jobs bill like Obama wants, we can expect to be in a deeper recession/depression in a year. Now, that would help the Republican running for President, but I am for helping the average American, not the Republican Party. I want America to win, even if it means that more people will vote for Obama. Passing this “non-jobs bill” would be a disaster for America and so it should be defeated. There might be something in the bill that could be gleaned off and passed, but I have not heard it yet.

Right now, the best thing for America is to oppose everything that Obama wants. This will insure that Americans get jobs and the economy recovers. Unfortunately for America, nothing that Obama opposes will see the light of day, due to the veto pen. So, we suffer in silence and vocally until November 2012. Then, we get to voice our opinion in an unmistakable fashion. I can hardly wait.
