Joe Lieberman (I, CT) has been a stalwart against the Democrat government healthcare plan. When the Democrats found out that they could not get any Republicans to vote for the monstrosity, they decided to put pressure on poor old Joe Lieberman. He resisted pretty well, until it was suggested that his wife’s salary should be withheld until he supported the bill. Shortly after that he caved and is now suggesting that he will support the bill with some minor changes.

The problem with Joe Lieberman is that he was right on the issue up until he caved in to Democrat pressure. Joe Lieberman has a problem that way. He knows what is right and takes a stand on the issues that is right. Then, he gets pressure from Democrats and he caves. When he tells us what caused him to change his mind, it is always something rather trivial. I have a feeling that the real reason is something like the suggested withholding of his wife’s salary until he caves. I have no basis for that feeling, except that the reason given by Joe Lieberman does not make any sense. He had a sensible position and was defending it strongly. Then, for almost nothing, he changes his mind. That just does not pass the smell test.

This change by Joe Lieberman seems to give the Democrats their magic 60 votes to ram their healthcare bill down our throats. That the Democrats persist in ramming the bill down our throats when the polls show that over 60% of the public does not want the bill in any way, does not make sense on the surface. It only makes sense when you consider what the Democrats get out of the bill. They get control over everyone in the country when the bill becomes law. Then, they will regain their majorities by claiming that the Republicans will take away healthcare. The fatal flaw in this scenario is the fact that the healthcare bill does not become active for three years after being enacted by Congress. That would give us time to elect people to repeal the bill. If the bill gets repealed before the implementation starts, nobody will be impacted at all.

Since the Democrats are conducting most of their negotiations in secret, it is difficult to keep up with exactly what is in the bill. Things are going in and out of the bill on an almost hourly basis. When we finally learn what is really in the bill, it will be too late to do much about it.

That our Senators and Representatives are even debating this bill is something I do not understand. It is obvious that the bill is unconstitutional. Anyone who can read can understand that the Constitution does not include anything that gives Congress or the President the authority to take over our health care system. Our Senators, Congressmen and President all take an oath of office. In that oath, they all agree to defend the Constitution against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. You cannot defend the Constitution and ignore what it says at the same time. That is just not possible. You either believe in the Constitution or you do not believe in the Constitution. If you believe in the Constitution, you live by what it says. If you do not believe in the Constitution, you have no business being an elected representative of the people. Anyone who votes for this Democrat bill obviously does not believe in the Constitution as written. The Constitution puts handcuffs on the government by telling it what it cannot do and then reserves all other power in the people. People voting for this bill believe that there are no limits on the power of government. That is an unconstitutional position to take.

My hope is that this bill is challenged and sent to the Supreme Court to be thrown out. Even the Democrats, including Sonia Sotomayor, should be able to read the Constitution and see that this bill is unconstitutional.  I expect that the vote would be something like 6-3 to throw it out. This is a no brainer when it comes to whether it is constitutional or not.

With Lieberman’s flip-flop things are not looking good. That the bill still has not passed is a positive sign. That the Democrats are calling everyone names is also a good thing. If they were confident of victory they would not be calling everyone names. There is still hope that this bill can be defeated. With each Democrat that shows that they have no scruples, the hope diminishes. But, you hate to have anything go to the Supreme Court to determine if it is constitutional or not.

The left is constantly warning the world to watch out for the antics of the right. They warn that the right will come into their bedrooms and tell you what to do. They warn of riots in the streets. They warn of other terrible things that any sane person would not want to happen. Is this the truth? Could this really be what happens when the right gets control? Or is it something that the left projects onto the right?

Let’s look at the evidence to see if there is any truth to the claims. First, when the right does gather for a demonstration are there arrests and other dangerous activities? No, when the right gathers, the area is usually left better off than before they arrived. There are usually no arrests. If there are any problems, they usually occur because of some counter demonstration by the left. The problems come when the two groups interact. The arrests are almost always from the leftist groups that cause the problems.

Second, when the right has control, do they tell people how to behave in the bedroom? No, the right generally believes that what is private is private. The right does not pass laws making people obey anything unusual in the bedroom or anywhere else for that matter. When the left gets control, they start passing laws that make traditional values seem unusual.

Recently, Nancy Pelosi was interviewed about events that happened in the 1970’s in the San Francisco area. She was crying when she remembered the events because of the “hate” that was generated. I remember those times and the groups she recalls generating the “hate” were all left wing groups. Right wing groups generally do not foment hate. Some people might say that the neo-Nazi groups are right wing groups and foment hate. The Nazi’s were the National Socialist Party. The neo-Nazi groups would be the new National Socialist Party. Everyone agrees that the socialists are on the left, not the right. The difference between the Nazi’s and the Communists is a matter of degree. Their goals and general philosophy was and are the same.

What the left does is project what they believe and would do onto the right. That way they can make fantastic claims that the right has to debunk. Since the right has to debunk these invalid theories of the left, the left’s theories gain more credibility with many of the uninformed public. Even though there is no evidence to support the theories of the left, they persist because the left wants them to be true. Since the left wants them to be true, they hold onto those theories even without evidence. And, with the left, sometimes a lack of evidence is evidence that it is true. Now, I fail to see the logic of that statement, but someone on the left will understand.

On the other hand, there is ample evidence that everything the left projects onto the right is something that they do. But, to the left, the fact that there is evidence shows that the idea is false. Again, I do not understand the logic of that statement.

The one thing that is good about having Barack Obama as President and the Democrats in charge in Congress is that the public now can see what the truth really is. Some are blind to the truth, but many have had the scales fall from their eyes. This should help when the elections come around in 2010 and 2012.

Today I saw a video clip of a news conference held by Lord Monckton in Copenhagen. In the meeting, many young people from the United States stand up and start chanting slogans. Their slogans drown out the person doing the speaking. In trying to regain order, Lord Monckton compares the youth doing the chanting to the Hitler Youth. The source at Townhall.com suggested that a better comparison would be to Mao’s thugs in the Cultural Revolution. Either way the result is the same, a legitimate use of the microphone is overcome by thugs chanting slogans. The youths probably thought they were being clever in using this tactic. They know there will not be any criticism of their actions in the fringe press.

The believers in global warming act like those who believe in a religion. They cannot handle any dissention because that would seriously undermine the authority of the belief in supreme “truth”. The fact that global warming is built on a house of lies is another story, yet also part of this story as well.

In religion, when talking about things that require faith, the best thing to do is bear your testimony of your belief in the truth of the faith. Discussing specific doctrinal questions can sometimes get interesting in religious settings. If the church has a long and spotty history like the Catholic Church, then you can get caught up in defending things that cannot be defended. All religions have some parts that members and believers do not want to talk about because the topics do not show the religion in a good light.

Global warming is a hoax. It was not intended to be an idea that was supposed to have widespread acceptance. The original global warming idea was just to obtain funding for some marine research projects in the South Pacific. After global cooling died out, the believers in global cooling latched onto the idea of global warming to take up the slack. People just kept feeding in information and explanations to answer critics. Eventually it grew all out of the realm of what it originally was intended to do. This mainly happened after the fall of communism in the early 1990’s. As the communists took over the global warming movement, the ideas and goals of global warming gradually morphed into the goals of communism. It is amazing how that worked out like that.

Now the global warming crowd is meeting in Copenhagen, supposedly discussing how to save the planet from the evils of global warming. All you hear coming out of the meetings is talk about how the poorer countries want more money and the rich countries want to maintain control over their money. The only time you hear anything about saving the planet; it is from the people that easily debunk global warming with “real” scientific facts, instead of the fabricated “facts” that have been used by global warming believers. It is obvious to anyone who watches even 5 minutes of this monstrosity being foisted off as a conference, that the purpose of the conference is money and how to get your share.

The entire event would be comical, if it were not so dangerous. Our government is over there participating in the conference. Our President has threatened to sign the agreement that was expected to come out of this monstrosity. From the looks of things the agreement may not happen as originally planned because of the climate gate memos. I am never one to enjoy leaks, but in this case I am making an exception. This is the most delicious case of leaking I have ever seen. The left is in a tizzy and does not know what to do to minimize the damage. The conference is losing a lot of steam because of the memos. Things are looking up, but are still extremely dangerous.

No matter how often I hear them do it, I am constantly amazed at the left’s ability to lie in the face of the facts. It seems like nobody on the left ever tells the truth to anyone at any time. Whenever they do, they have it revealed like the climate gate memos for the world to see. Then they are made to look stupid. Of course, they looked stupid during the entire process, but they fooled themselves into believing that they were being taken seriously.

At Copenhagen, the outrage that should be evident over the climate gate memos is there. The unfortunate part is that the outrage is being placed on those that leaked the memos, not at the memos themselves. This is obviously phony outrage. When the New York Times leaked those sensitive governmental secrets, there was no outrage over the leak. The difference is that the left liked the Times printing and does not like climate gate.

Another bunch of lies are being told by Democrats in Congress. They say that they have no control over the EPA and their decision to regulate carbon dioxide. The Democrats are trying to have their cake and eat it too. By having the EPA do the dirty work, the Congressional Democrats gets a pass on the skyrocketing energy prices that will result. They believe that everyone will blame the EPA and not them. The Congress could stop the EPA in their tracks today, if not sooner. All they have to do is pass a bill that says that the EPA budget will be reduced 10% per month for every month they leave carbon dioxide on the list of pollutants. You will see carbon dioxide off of the list so fast that there would be smudges on the report. But, Congress will not act and expect us to put the blame on EPA instead of Congress.

Now, don’t think that I am absolving the right from also telling their share of lies. I am not. People on the right tell their share of lies as well. The problem with people on the right is that we are not as good at telling lies, so we get caught quicker. Of course, the news media seeks out those on the right that tells lies and do not look for those on the left. Also, when someone on the left tells lies, the entire left nods their head as if that person is telling the truth. When someone on the right tells a lie, someone on the right almost always catches them in the lie. Also, part of being in Washington is that you cannot tell the truth. That stems from a basic philosophy in Washington that the public is stupid. Also, you may not want to tip your hand on your next move at this particular time. Not tipping your hand leads to many lies. These are the usually easily penetrated type lies where you say one thing, but mean another.

What really gets me mad is when someone who is supposed to be impartial turns out to have a hand in the game. The climate gate story is one of this kind of situation. The people writing these emails were supposed to be scientists. I know that scientists are supposed to be impartial, but we are people too. We can put aside our natural bias to report on scientific facts as facts. I know that is possible because I do that every day as a teaching scientist. My method is to use the “I report, you decide” method. That is I report the facts with as little editorial comment as possible. This way the students have to decide on their own, instead of just parroting what I believe. It does take practice, but when used it creates dividends. It would be so easy to tell them what I believe and call that position a fact, but that would not be honest. I try to divorce myself from the emotion of the data as I can. In the climate gate memos, the authors were caught up in the emotion and were doctoring information to get the data they wanted. This is not only lies, but is completely dishonest. Any of those “scientists” should be disbarred from receiving any grants for a period of 5-10 years. Being without grants for that number of years would create very humble scientists. Grants are the lifeblood of science. Being without the lifeblood for a period of time would cause even the most partisan scientist to straighten out.

Lies are never the best way to handle something. The truth is always the best policy. I was told once that if you lie, you have to have a great memory. If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember what you told to which person. I try and apply this principle to everything that I do. I am not perfect, but am striving for perfection in everything. I have a long way to go before anyone ever mistakes me for someone approaching perfection. But, I can see progress over time. The progress is slow and steady. It may take me another 2-300 years, but I will make it to perfection, yet.

Today, I was reading Phil Brennan at Newsmax.com and learned that man really has caused global warming. Phil was talking about the manipulation of the temperature data in New Zealand and how the early temperatures were reduced and the more current ones were raised. This caused a false upturn in temperature. But, it was entirely man-made. So, the global warming people are right about one thing. Man is the cause of (the appearance of) global warming.

The global warming believers are meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark. They are acting as if the climate gate memos were never found. If the memos are mentioned at all, they are dismissed as thefts and not important to the discussion. Since the world does not believe the last round of fantastic forecasts, we are being treated to a new round of even more fantastic forecasts.

The one thing that nobody ever comments on is the fact that the predictions of the global warming alarmists are ALWAYS wrong. Even when they appear right, they are off by a lot. Not one global warming enthusiast predicted the current cooling trend. All of the global warming enthusiasts dismiss this cooling trend as something very temporary. After the cooling period is over the global warming will reappear as if nothing had intervened. At least that is the story being told by the “true believers”. Fortunately, there are not as many of them today as there were a year ago.

Glenn Beck showed a commercial from Europe showing polar bears falling from the sky. That was one of the more disgusting commercials I have ever seen. The connection to 9/11 was pretty great as at first it appeared the polar bears were jumping from the buildings. The thrust of the commercial was to try and persuade people to stop flying. Glenn’s reaction to the commercial was decidedly negative. Mine was also negative. I am sure that other people had a similar reaction. Glenn and I cannot be that much out of touch with reality.

The purpose of the conference in Copenhagen is the transfer of wealth from the rich countries to the poor countries. There is no global warming. Global warming is the biggest scientific hoax since the Piltdown man in the early 20^th century. In the Piltdown man, the evidence was planted. Then when questioned it was discovered that it was the skull of a human and the jaw of an ape. This global warming hoax has many of the same elements. The evidence was not planted, it was falsified. The Piltdown man influenced scientific thought for about 50 years before it became completely debunked. We do not have 50 years to debunk global warming. It needs to occur within the next 12 months.

In a related event, the EPA decided that one of the essential gases on the planet is a pollutant. The EPA ruled yesterday t hat carbon dioxide is a pollutant and can be regulated by the EPA. Carbon dioxide is something all animals breathe out. All plants take in carbon dioxide to produce oxygen and produce our food. That is not something that is a pollutant. A pollutant is something that is bad, not essential for life. But, the EPA is not really interested in saving the planet or reducing pollution. They are involved in the wealth transfer from wealthy Americans to poorer Americans and the transfer of wealth from America to the rest of the world. That is more important than being scientifically accurate. The EPA is showing itself a political organization, not a scientific organization. It had a reputation of stupidity, but it did show some scientific rigor. Now, all pretense of allegiance to science is thrown out the window. All allegiance to the political ends of the socialist Democrat party is paramount. Science can take a back seat to politics.

We need to get back to an administration that respects science. Right now, we have people spouting scientific terms to justify socialist ends. That is not science, it is politics. As a scientist, I am outraged that science has been politically hijacked. There was a time when a scientist making a statement about science could be trusted. Now, you have to look into that person’s politics before you can believe them. That is terrible. Scientists should stick to science. Politicians should stick to politics. If a politician wants to politicize science, then let them do it all alone. As a scientist I will not stand up and back a politician unless his science is sound. Since most politicians do not know the first thing about science, that means if a politician talks about science, don’t believe them.

Two long dead Colombia University professors, Cloward and Pivin, wrote the blueprint on how to destroy America. At the time, nobody took much notice of what they wrote except for the extreme left wing in the country. Now, many years later it appears that their plans are being put into action by the Democrat Party.

The plan was amazingly simple. It was basically overwhelm the system until it can no longer respond. At the time, the system was extremely strong and their plan did not seem worth notice. Now, after about a generation of Democrat leadership in the Congress, the economic system was primed to be overwhelmed.

Along came our illustrious leader, Barack Obama, and he put the plan into action. It had probably been put into action at some time in the past, but it was put into action in earnest in January of this year. Any Democrat will deny ever hearing about Cloward and Pivin. They will also deny knowing anything about the plans that they wrote about. But, when allowed to make their own decisions, any Democrat will immediately institute those plans as if working from a script.

Right now, America is broke. We cannot afford what we already have committed to, let alone anything new. Yet, Democrats in Congress are working overtime trying to institute new programs to spend even more money that we do not have. If this were their own homes, they would not look for more places to spend money they did not have. They would look for ways to cut back their spending to match their income. That would be the sensible thing to do. Then, they would not make obligations that they could not meet in the future. Our Congress, led by Democrats, is completely out of control when it comes to spending.

When you look at what Democrats want to spend money on, you have to shake your head and wonder. How can anyone justify …? That is the standard question I have when presented with the fantastic amount of pork put forward by Democrats. Republicans are not blameless. There are Republicans that are just as bad as Democrats. They are probably worse because they belong to a party that professes to believe in living within its means. But, any list of top ten pork barrel spenders almost always has at least 9 Democrats and sometimes more. Conversely, when you look at those that spend the least on pork, you find almost exclusively Republican names.

Very soon, we are going to have to get a handle on the entitlement spending that we have committed ourselves to. Our unfunded liability is so far in the red that it would be impossible to meet the obligation. That means my kids and grand kids and great grandkids will be paying for our excesses. That is inexcusable. We have to have a national debt that is at $0 as soon as possible. I am not just talking about balancing the budget, I am talking national debt, the total amount we own.

The day of reckoning is coming soon. With Barack Obama in the lead, we may accelerate that date up to 2010 or 2011. The choices will not be pretty. People will not be happy. It is always easy to cut when it is someone else’s ox. When it is your ox being gored, then it is a different story. I think the American people are ready to make those decisions. There are the dependent classes that have been carefully cultivated by the Democrats that will resist. They have to be overcome and we have to be successful if we want to pass on an America that means something to our children.

A short time ago, the computer files were hacked that contained sensitive emails from Global Warming Pushing Scientists to themselves. These files contained a treasure trove of information that details how the Global Warming Pushers have buffaloed everyone for so long.

Since they know that global warming is a crock, it is easy to “cook the books”. They did this in a number of ways. One was to add data to what they had to make the temperature levels rise or at least level out. Another was to ignore “inconvenient truths” that did not fit the model they wanted. By cooking the books and closing ranks around the false data, they made it extremely difficult to fight against the hoax that is global warming.

Anyone who strayed from the orthodoxy was ridiculed or even destroyed professionally. They played for keeps. They took no prisoners. They gloated when someone who did not believe as they did died and wondered how they could make more die.

They made sure that if you “believed” you got grants to fund research to your heart’s content. They only thing the believers asked in return was that the conclusion of your research supported global warming. Since they were the source of your funding, the scientists involved were very glad to oblige.

Now the fallout begins from the scandal. The leading climate scientist that has led the global warming cry in England for decades has resigned in disgrace. Other shoes will fall as the scandal widens and more people become aware of it. Politicians have to be shaking in their boots. Their grand design on your pocketbook is now in jeopardy. If the public becomes aware of the scandal, the ability to pass any cap and tax system will come crashing down.

Barack Obama is ignoring the scandal. Of course, he has surrounded himself with the most scientifically aware scientists in the world. That was sarcasm. His cadre of scientific advisors does not contain one scientist that believes in the truth. All of them are highly motivated supporters of global warming. As a result, the Obama administration is ignoring the scandal and going to Copenhagen. In Copenhagen, they hope to sign away US sovereignty for a reduction of 17% in greenhouse gases. You know the ones, those that you breathe in and out every breath. They make it sound like a pollutant, but plants require it for life and you produce it every breath. You are not about to produce a pollutant in your own body.

The best thing about the Copenhagen fiasco that Obama is going to commit is that it has to be confirmed by the US Senate. Now, generally that is a good thing, but in this case Democrats have 60 votes. But, I think even Democrats would have second thoughts about destroying the US economy if enough people contacted them. You never know, stranger things have happened. Also, Democrats occasionally do the right thing. I know it is rare, but it has happened. I can’t remember the last time it did happen, but it must have happened at some time during my lifetime.

The Senate voted to disgrace themselves on Saturday evening by passing the destruction of the United States bill to discussion in the Senate. The bill should have been killed off at that point. Then, a bill that could truly solve the problems in healthcare could be constructed. This bill just trashes the good parts of American healthcare and adds lots of bad parts to replace those good parts. I cannot say one good thing about the bill in the Senate except that it was printed on paper.

The buying of votes was particularly disgraceful. Mary Landrieu (D) of Louisiana should resign in disgrace for even considering the bribe offered by Harry Reid (D-NV) and the Democrat Senate Leadership. The Democrat Senate Leadership should resign in disgrace for offering a bribe to Mary Landrieu (D) of Louisiana. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) was offered $100 million in Medicare funds to Louisiana for her vote. The actual wording on the bribe is that any state that was designated a national emergency within the past 7 years will receive funding under this provision. The only state that qualifies under that provision is: Louisiana. In other words, the bill will strip $500 million from Medicare and turn around to give $100 million to Louisiana. I do know that the $500 million comes from Medicare in general and the $100 million is for the state program with a similar name. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) estimates that the true benefit for Louisiana will be $300 million, not the $100 million estimated by the CBO. So, she is an even bigger crook than we originally thought.

Other Democrat Senators, who had been enjoying their time on the fence, were now expressing anger at people for trying to persuade them to vote a particular way. What is it with fence sitters? They sit on the fence so everyone will give them attention. Then, when everyone gives them the attention they want they cry that they did not want “that” kind of attention. I think they want everyone to believe that they did it for principles, not for the greed and graft that they were angling for in reality.

I will grant you that this vote only authorizes that the bill under discussion be discussed. The problem with that idea is that once bills get discussed in the Senate, they almost always get passed in some form or another. That is the problem. We do not need this bill in any possible form that resembles what is currently on the table. All you can hope for now is that some Democrats see the light of day. The odds on that happening are somewhere between slim and none. An Obamacare bill passing out of the Senate before the end of the year is almost certain. That means higher taxes, higher health insurance premiums, fewer choices in healthcare, poorer healthcare overall and an end to the America that existed for over 230 years. An America will still exist, but its heart will not be that of America it will be that of Europe or Moscow. An America without the heart of America is not America. At least, it is not the America that I want to pass on to my children and grandchildren.

You may argue, successfully, that other countries have been successful while having socialized medicine. I will grant that those countries appear strong, but their core is weak. If you push those countries, they will crack and fall because there is no inner strength that we have here in the US. We have that inner strength because of individualism. Socialized medicine destroys the concept of individualism in a very short period of time. Within one generation, the concept of individualism as an American ideal will be gone. Then, we are no different than any other country in the world. With the concept of individualism, we are the best country in the world. We are not perfect and have never claimed to be. We are the best and have claimed that for a very long time. To use the argument that we are not perfect, so we cannot be the best is silly. Anyone can be the best and not be perfect. If you want examples, just look at the National Football League. Only one time in its history has a team made it through an entire season with the playoffs and remained undefeated. For a country to be perfect would be impossible as it is made up of imperfect human beings. All a country can be is the best one in the world. One country has to be the best, right now it is us.

I want my grandchildren to be able to defend the “best” country in the world, not the second or third best. With socialized medicine, we will be one of the larger pack of countries in the middle, not at the top. That is why socialized medicine has to be defeated at the earliest level possible. We missed a chance on Saturday because of corruption. We will have another chance later, but corruption will be just as bad, if not worse, then.

Just when you think that the Obama administration cannot go any lower, they find a way to go lower. On the way to work today, Mike Siegel from KFYI reported that Janet Napolitano, Head of Homeland Security, is looking for a way to indict Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, AZ. She wants to indict him for enforcing the laws of the State of Arizona on illegal immigration.

I have heard of indicting people for not enforcing the law. I have heard of indicting people for breaking the law. But, I have never heard of indicting people for enforcing the law. If Sheriff Joe Arpaio was making up laws and arresting illegal aliens, then he would be breaking the law and worthy of indicting. But, Sheriff Joe is obeying the law and requiring that those that enter the country obey the law as well. Janet Napolitano does not like that. She did not like that when she was Governor of Arizona and she likes it even less today.

Janet Napolitano is trying her best to try and stop the ICE agents from enforcing the laws on illegal immigration. She sent a large number of the agents from the southern border where the problem is to the northern border where there is not a problem. Usually when you move large numbers of people around, you do it so they can address a need that is not being met. Janet Napolitano had a need on the southern border for more agents. On the northern border she had more than enough agents to handle the situation. So, instead of transferring some from the north to the south, she does the opposite. As a result, the capability of the agents in the south was reduced, thus enabling more illegal aliens to enter this country.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has seen that the ICE agents are overworked. He saw that the number of illegal aliens in Maricopa County was growing. He vowed to take action to try and stop this trend. Since he only has authority within the confines of Maricopa County, Arizona, he took the actions that he felt were necessary to stop the invasion. Under President Bush, he was given power to enforce federal laws against coming into this country illegally. After Janet Napolitano took over as Homeland Security Secretary, she took that authority away. She felt that taking this federal power away would stop Sheriff Joe from enforcing the law. Since she withdrew the authority, Sheriff Joe has held a couple of sweeps that pick up illegal aliens and other lawbreakers. The latest sweeps have resulted in well in excess of 100 illegal aliens being arrested.

Janet Napolitano may well have the authority to want to indict Sheriff Joe about the illegal aliens being arrested. But, having the authority to do something and actually doing it are two quite different scenarios. There is no way that Janet Napolitano could get a conviction of Sheriff Joe. If this ever went to trial, Sheriff Joe would be acquitted. Sheriff Joe is the most popular politician in the State of Arizona. No jury in this state would ever vote to convict him of the crime of enforcing the law. Other than partisan Democrats, she could not find an attorney to handle the case. What Sheriff Joe wants more than anything is the opportunity to get some publicity. This case would give him a soap box to pound Janet Napolitano and Homeland Security into dust. As other Democrat politicians in this state have learned, you do not challenge Joe Arpaio to a public fight in the news media. Sheriff Joe wins those fights every time. Janet Napolitano should be a savvy enough politician to know that from the other Democrat politicians that lost those public fights.

My guess is that this is just a ploy to try and get Sheriff Joe to back off from enforcing the law. I think that he now knows that he has the attention of the feds and will pursue this tactic some more. I cannot believe that Janet Napolitano is stupid enough to try and take on Sheriff Joe when he is obviously in the right. If he were even the least bit operating in the gray areas of the law, she might have a chance. But, Sheriff Joe has been very careful about how these latest episodes are handled. As a result, Janet Napolitano is skating on thin ice and Sheriff Joe knows it. This might be fun to watch, but it definitely is something that should make every law abiding American to wonder about the Obama administration.

Since the Obama administration is like the, “Gang that Couldn’t Shoot Straight”, in foreign affairs as well as domestic affairs, doesn’t this give you pause when they now come to you and ask to run healthcare? I mean it is easy to see that terrorists are terrorists and want to kill us. It is easy to know that what they want more than anything is to have a forum to spout their terrorist drivel. The Obama administration has given some of the more important terrorists we have caught, a forum in New York City. How stupid is that? Then, they have the audacity to say that they can run healthcare efficiently. That is definitely the height of chutzpah.

Right now, there is not a single Democrat in or near to power that I trust to give me the truth at any time. That comes from many years of being told something is true by a Democrat and checking to find that the Democrat was 180 degrees out of phase in his/her comments. That means they were wrong 100% of the time. I do not mean they were a little bit wrong or that you could debate whether they were wrong, I mean the facts show they were wrong 100% of the time. The Republicans haven’t been much better, but at least they are right 50% of the time or more. Some Republicans are nearly 100% and others are much less. But I cannot think of any conservative Republican that even approaches the Democrat 0% accuracy rate.

Sarah Palin is one of the Republicans whose accuracy rate up near 100% in her comments. You may disagree with what she says, but you have to admit that she tells the truth. That is the same kind of thing people said about Ronald Reagan. And, just like Reagan, she is being vilified by the press for just breathing. The interesting thing is that the more the press and the Democrats demonize Sarah, the more the public likes her and her comments. People get interested when the Democrats and the media are so violently antagonistic against an individual. That only happens when the person is perceived as a real “threat” by the Democrats and their media lapdogs. Also, she does not care what the media and the Democrats say about her. That is a strength that goes a long way to add to her popularity. Anyone who wants the media to like them is doomed to failure from the start. They may win some elections, but if there is an important election that it is critical to win, they will lose. People like Sarah win those tough elections.

Back when Sarah Palin stepped down as Governor of Alaska, many people wrote her off as finished in public life. I was telling my friends that while I did not agree with her move, she will be back. I thought it would be for 2016, but it looks like she is on board for 2012. If she throws her hat into the ring, she would be the obvious Republican front runner. Mitt Romney would be in second place with Mike Huckabee in third place. Mike Huckabee would show his tender side and allow all his bigotry to come out against Mitt Romney again. That would destroy his candidacy with an important constituent group in the Republican Party. As a result, Sarah Palin would be the beneficiary of the internecine fight between Romney and Huckabee over religion.

No matter how many times Mike Huckabee says he is not a bigot, he is one and he is one in spades. Had he not been a bigot, Mitt Romney would most likely have been the nominee in 2008 instead of John McCain. Mitt Romney might still have lost, but it would have been a lot closer and the Democrats would not have a stranglehold on the House and Senate. I am a strong conservative, but I cannot stand bigots. I would actively work against a Huckabee nomination. I would also actively work against him to be President. We do not need bigots in the office of President of the United States.

You cannot trust government to do anything right. As President Reagan so eloquently said so long ago, “In our present crisis, the government is not the solution to our problem. The government is the problem.” Any candidate who advocates smaller government in 2010 or 2012 will get my vote and my support, unless than candidate is a bigot. I do not think that Mike Huckabee could get nominated or elected on a platform of smaller government. He believes in bigger government, just a smaller big government than Barack Obama. We need a TRUE smaller government person in the job who will get us back to what is written in the Constitution of the United States. That should be our guiding light, not what feels good.

Last night, Harry Reid unveiled his new $849 Billion version of healthcare. The best part of it is the fact that the cost is below $1 trillion. The bad part of the bill is that we do not have the entire bill that will be implemented. Listening to the Mike Gallagher show today, Mike and his guest brought out that what Harry Reid unveiled is not the bill that will be implemented. He likened it to making a budget for your house. You have all the information except for where you are going to live, so you make a budget based on the information you have on hand and ignore the information you do not have. You will eventually have to put in the part you do not have, but your budget sure looks good in the mean time.

The problem with Harry Reid’s bill is that even without the missing parts, it still is a bloated bill. Like all the Democrat bills, it protects the Trial Lawyers and punishes the Doctors. That is backwards, Doctors provide healthcare. Lawyers make it difficult or impossible for doctors to practice various kinds of medicine. A certain Trial Lawyer, who was a Senator from North Carolina and ran for Vice-President with Al Gore in 2000, almost single-handedly raised the cost of having a baby. He was responsible for suing doctors for causing genetic birth defects. Genetic birth defects are caused because of genetic problems that the parents have, not something the doctor did or did not do. This Trial Lawyer would bring in “experts” who would testify that it was all the fault of the doctor. Then, the Trial Lawyer would channel the baby and tell the juries what the baby wanted them to do. As a result, he got seven figure settlements from juries and made his clients and himself rich. Doctors insurance rates went through the roof and many doctors stopped providing services to assist mothers in delivering babies. In some states there is a severe shortage of baby doctors. Still Democrats refuse to institute Tort reform to stop this travesty from happening. The reason is that the Trial Lawyers give generously to the Democrat party and help elect Democrats to keep Republicans from instituting Tort Reform.

That is just one example of the problem with healthcare in the United States. Lawyers get involved and get juries to award outrageous settlements to clients. Tort reform would correct this problem. A real problem could still be addressed and adequate compensation could be awarded. The outrageous awards should be minimized. The trial lawyer/Senator/Vice-Presidential candidate/Presidential candidate, got juries to award settlements when the problem was with the sperm and/or the egg provided by the parents, not anything done by the doctor. The cases should have been thrown out of court because of stupidity on the part of the Trial Lawyer, but nobody knew enough about genetics to stop the cases. The Trial Lawyer knew that the doctors were innocent of any wrong doing, yet he proceeded with the cases anyway. This is the kind of thing Tort Reform is supposed to stop. This is the kind of thing that the Democrats do not want to stop because this Trial Lawyer is a “respected” member of the Democrat party. He should be considered lower than the low. He is considered by Democrats to be worth listening to. I figure that as long as he is a “respected” member of the Democrat party, I know that they have no standards of conduct or shame.

I figure that the Democrats will keep churning out Healthcare plans until they get one that people line up and salute to. So far, their problem is that the number that approves of a plan goes down with each new plan proposed. Right now, people do not want socialized medicine. They are willing to stand up and be counted in the fight against socialized medicine. That is great for America that we have people willing to stand up and be counted. For a while there, I was afraid that Americans were going to lie down and let Democrats walk all over them. Now, I have hope for the future.

In an unrelated, yet related, note, the Copenhagen Treaty is being watered down because of the protests in almost every country in the world. The Communist leaders that wrote the Copenhagen Treaty have to put the brakes on their plan for a world-wide communist country. Americans are leading in this fight and it is also having an impact on the healthcare debate, which is really not about healthcare, but about government control of your life.

Our ship of state is headed for parts unknown. We are borrowing money at a rate that is unbelievable. In 2002, our national debt was at $5.98 trillion. Now our national debt is $12 trillion. In one year, it is expected to be at $14 trillion. These numbers are too large for our country to handle. Something has to give. Either we slow down the runaway spending train and restrain spending. Or we continue spending and end up at a location where we do not want to be.

On CNBC a few days ago, there was an expert on by the name of Damon Vickers. He projects that if this rate continues that the dollar will disappear and a new currency will be put in place which will enable a New World Order. This New World Order cannot be good for liberty. It would almost certainly involve some sort of a totalitarian government. That means a loss of freedom. I don’t know how you feel, but that is not good for me or my grandchildren. In my mind, we have to do everything we can to stop this from happening.

There is something we can do about this situation. The first thing is that we can stop spending money like we have lots of money to spend. A warning was issued by China because they questioned the cost of the Obamacare bill being considered in the Senate. Now, I do not want to be told what to do by Communist Chinese, but they have a point. We do not have the money, so why not stop and pay off what we already owe. That would necessarily mean living through a “Great Depression” period in history. Living through a “Great Depression” would not be as bad as my parents and grandparents lived through that time period. They came out of the Great Depression stronger than they went in. I believe that we as Americans would do the same if forced to live through a similar situation. But, come out of it we would.

That is the first thing we could do. Of course, that would put us exactly 180 degrees out of phase with the Obama administration. The Obama administration is committed to weakening the dollar and driving up the national debt. That is not good according to the economist interviewed by CNBC. The interesting thing about the interview by CNBC is that the host of the show did not seem flustered about the information that Mr. Vickers had to say. He just asked about the global currency problem that starts the One World Government. I would have asked questions about what he meant when he mentions what will happen. That would get him to clarify his points for the audience. To me a New World Order is a bad thing.

If we get our financial house in order, we can reclaim our country. Right now, our country is being stolen from us by banking institutions and people bent on destroying our way of life. They want to create a totalitarian government in place of our republic. In my mind, totalitarian governments are not good. People living under a totalitarian government do not have the freedoms guaranteed to us under the Constitution of the United States. I do not want to live under a totalitarian form of government. I like the freedoms guaranteed to every member of the United States of America. I want to continue living under those freedoms. I want those freedoms for my children. I want those freedoms for my grandchildren. If that means I have to live with less to make sure that they have those freedoms, then I will take less.

This boils down to the fact that we do not need the Democrats “Nanny State” ideas. We can do without the “Nanny State” for this generation and for every generation of Americans to come. We are Americans. Americans are great because we are free to succeed and fail. A “Nanny State” tries to prevent anyone from failing. That is where they always fail in a much larger extent than just one person at a time. They do it a country at a time. That is catastrophic for a country. We need to install an individual’s right to fail. That may sound bad, but it is actually good. Without the right to fail, you really do not have the right to succeed. You need to be able to succeed to get ahead in this world.

Americans need to take charge of their own lives and those of their children and grandchildren. They need to throw out anyone who promises to keep them safe from failure. Those are the snake oil salesmen that are getting us into deeper trouble. We need to find the real American leaders that will allow us to succeed or fail. That is the American way.

Since we have not had an update on global warming for a while, I thought it would be a good time. Since our last visit, more and more real scientists have decided that their professional reputation is more important than political correctness. That translates into more scientists coming out to say that global warming is nothing more than a hoax.

The entire basis for global warming has been the predictions of global catastrophe that will occur if we do not take drastic action today. The drastic action is always more government control over our lives. There is never a solution that takes in market conditions, always government control over our lives. That should raise questions in people’s minds. Why won’t market conditions ever produce results similar to that of governmental control over our lives? Why do we always have to have more government? The answer is that we do not always have to have more government control. It is just that the people that believe in big government also believe in global warming. That means a big government solution to the “problem” that does not exist.

Global warming predictions have been computer generated. When I was working for a computer start-up company back when a small computer filled a room, the mantra was “garbage in, garbage out”. That means that if you put bad information into a computer, you would get bad information out of the computer at the other end. The people that programmed the computers believed that global warming would occur in a certain way. They programmed the computer to produce that result. When they put in their information, they were surprised to find out that the computers were telling them exactly what they expected. That was fantastic news because it meant that their theories about global warming were correct. (Not) They then published their findings and told everyone what they found out. All they proved was that they could program computers to give those expected results.

How accurate have these computer models been to the actual data? To say that the computer models were inaccurate is an understatement. You could have had a 6 year old throw darts at a chart with rain, sun and other climate information on it and been more accurate. Wildly inaccurate would be downplaying how inaccurate the computer models have been. You wonder how these “scientists” could believe that they could accurately predict the climate 50 or 100 years into the future, when they could not predict the weather even 7 days away.

One rule in science is to take what has happened and use that to project what will happen in the future. They took a one degree temperature rise and said that would go up to some astronomical figure. There is no evidence to lead them to that conclusion, just that is what they wanted the climate to do to justify their funding. When data was inconsistent with their theory of global warming, they either changed the information or just ignored the data altogether. The big example here is the medieval warming period.

The IPCC (The UN’s group that works on climate change) just ignores the medieval warming period. When you check their temperature charts, the medieval warming period is not there. They just basically draw a straight line through the period. To make it more appealing, they put some peaks and valleys, but overall it is a straight line. This is scientifically unethical. But, since almost the entire IPCC is made up of politicians, not scientists, they do not have a problem with ethics. The IPCC, according to Al Gore, is the scientific community consensus on climate change. Less than 1 in 10 members of the IPCC are scientists and most of them are not in the physical sciences, like physics, chemistry, climatology or biology. Probably only ¼ or less of the scientists on the IPCC is in the physical sciences. That means 1 out of every 40 members is truly a scientist that covers the fields involved in climate change. To call a group like that the leader in climate change is to make a mockery of the term.

In summary, the global climate change hoax is the largest hoax ever presented to human beings. That so many people have bought into the hoax tells you how gullible people generally are. Even scientists were buying into the hoax, until the evidence piled up so much that they had to choose between their credibility and their political correctness. Those scientists that have to rely on their credibility have come out against global warming. There are some scientists that still believe in the hoax. These scientists generally do not have to rely on their credibility to get funding. They are a much tougher nut to crack than the ones that have to rely on their credibility.

For the second time, Barack Obama has embarrassed this country by bowing to a foreign ruler. This time he bowed to the Emperor of Japan. According to Japanese protocol, a bow like the one Barack Obama performed is done when one is trying to make amends for some wrong he/she committed. A normal bow to a head of state in Japan is a bow of about 45 degrees. This bow is of the 90 degree variety. It is similar to that bow/non-bow to the Saudi King.

Like I said at the time of the Saudi bow, American Presidents do not bow to anyone. Since George Washington was elected President there have been only two instances of American Presidents bowing to a foreign head of state. Both have come during the Presidency of Barack Obama. Something is really fishy when an American President bows to anyone. In this video, he even continues to give head bows to both the Emperor and his wife. This was almost too unseemly to watch. I thought Barack Obama had more respect for himself than that.

The announcer on the YouTube video said something interesting. He mentioned that the bow might be a result of Obama’s being raised in Indonesia all those years. I do not know the validity of that statement, but it does cause one to wonder what sort of training he received in Indonesia that is coming forward today.

What Barack Obama needs is a protocol guide to help him understand what he is supposed to do in these high level meetings. He is not Barack Obama private citizen. He is President of the United States. He needs to act like the President of the United States at all times when in foreign countries. If he wants to let his hair down in the United States, that is acceptable as we understand. Foreigners do not understand a President that is not acting as the President. That is too fine a line for a foreigner to draw. Americans know the difference instinctively. At least, I think that most Americans know the difference. If Obama knew the difference, he would not act like he is in foreign countries and with foreign leaders. That is why he needs someone to fill him in on what to do at all situations.

Right now, we have an embarrassment as President. He acts like he has never seen other Presidents when they have been in foreign countries. He acts like he has to make things up as he goes along. It does not matter that there are over 200 years of diplomatic protocol to guide him in these situations. He just goes in and acts like he thinks he is supposed to act as a citizen of the world. Most Americans do not buy into that citizen of the world nonsense. We are Americans and expect our President to act in a certain way. When our President does not act like we expect him to act, we are embarrassed as a nation.

When Bill Clinton was President, the New York Times got on his case for basically thinking about bowing to the Emperor of Japan. I shall wait with baited breath for the New York Times to excoriate Barack Obama for actually bowing to the Emperor. Obama did more than just bow; he bowed in subjugation to the Emperor according to Japanese custom. Our Rube in the White House probably does not even know what he did. Oh, well we have until 2012 until we can vote him out of office. Let’s hope there is an America there that can still vote in 2012. The way this bunch is going, I am not so sure that we may not recognize ourselves in 2012. That is a scary thought.

Attorney General Eric Holder announced yesterday that he would be trying Gitmo detainees in New York. Janet Napolitano announced that she would pursue amnesty for 14 million illegal aliens. Barack Obama wants desperately to sign the Copenhagen documents.

What do those three seemingly unconnected events have in common? They all deal with one of the core issues of Borders, Language and Culture. Specifically in this instance, all three deal with borders, rather than language or culture.

By trying the Gitmo detainees in New York, Attorney General Holder is giving these detainees rights under the Constitution of the United States of America to which they were not entitled. Enemy combatants historically have been tried by a military tribunal and sentenced. In this case, Eric Holder is taking these Enemy Combatants to New York and giving them the right to an American trial. Part of that right is to have a jury of their “peers”. How in the world are these Gitmo detainees going to have a trial where they have a jury of their “peers”? First, they are not citizens so there are no eligible jurors who would qualify as a “peer”. Second, these trials are liable to last for a long time, probably a year or more. That will make getting a good jury next to impossible. No good jury member could take off of work for a year or more to serve on a jury.

This also impacts our borders by causing terrorists to target the site of the trials. Terrorists traditionally target the site of the trials for attacks. Eric Holder is making New York a target of terrorist attacks. New York does not need additional terrorist attacks. Also the media attention from these trials will disrupt the ability to get a “fair” trial. Bringing these terrorists here for trial gives them legitimacy that they never had while they were just terrorists held at Gitmo.

Janet Napolitano wants to legalize 14 million new Democrat voters. That is not how it is going to be sold, but that is the reality of the situation. We have these 14 million people that are currently breaking the law. They entered the country illegally and if they are working, are working illegally. Janet Napolitano thinks that it is acceptable to ignore the law by entering the country illegally. The fact that these people are then working illegally is just a nuisance. If Janet Napolitano had her way, we would not have a Southern Border to the United States of America. Anyone could come and go across the line whenever they felt like it, as long as they were a minority or perceived minority that might become a Democrat voter. If the person wants to transact business across the border legally, then they have to jump through numerous hoops to make it difficult to do. In other words, if the person is friendly to the Democrats they have free access to either side of the border and can vote in American elections. If the person is perceived to be a business person (read Republican), then the government has to make it difficult to work with people across the border.  You have to be “fair”, you understand.

Barack Obama wants to sign the Copenhagen Accord. Right now, he cannot sign it because Congress has not passed the Cap and Tax bill. Once that gets passed, then Obama gets to sign the Copenhagen Accord. What is the Copenhagen Accord? Basically, it is the Kyoto treaty with some teeth built in. It gives a UN government agency the right to come into the United States and overrule the US government. In other words, we would give away our right to determine what goes on within our own borders. That would be the death of the United States or any country that allowed that to happen. No country can survive that allows some “World Government” to come in and overrule what its own people decide. This is why we have to keep Barack Obama far away from a pen when he is anywhere near Copenhagen, Denmark.

We are on the verge of losing our country. We have people leading this country that do not believe in the United States. They want to do away with the borders of this country and establish a “World Government”. That would be a disaster for people in the United States. If we start down that path, we need to take whatever methods necessary to put a stop to that. I am not sure what that entails at this time, but I have a feeling that it will not be good. Let’s just put a stop to it before we ever start down the path and we never have to find out what those methods ever were.
