The Democrats are tipping their hand at what they plan to do to America when they get hold of all three branches of the federal government. Charlie Rangel of New York has written a tax plan that will do away with the Alternative Minimum Tax. That is a good thing. The Alternative Minimum Tax is an odious tax that is now infringing on middle class taxpayers. Democrats are now feeling the heat over the Alternative Minimum Tax and want to do away with it. Their solution is to put a surcharge on every single person that earns over $150,000 per year or a couple that earns over $200,000 per year. That plus the expiration of the Bush tax cuts will mean the top rate will go from 35% to 44% of income. That is just on income. They also plan to remove the cap on the amount that can be taxed for social security.

The Democrats plan to place the country into a depression by the end of 2010. That will be great for Republican politicians. It will be bad for Americans. If you want more of something, reduce the cost. If you want more tax money coming in, reduce taxes. If you want less money coming in, raise taxes. Their increase in taxes will lower revenue to the federal treasury. That will increase the amount the federal government will have to borrow each year which will raise interest rates. Their plan is a plan for disaster. Anyone who can add 1+1=2 should be able to see it. Unfortunately, it seems as if people are not looking with their eyes. They only see the chance to elect the first woman as President. That vote will make them feel good. It will also send the country down the toilet.

I am afraid that if the Democrats get into power in 2008, they will manufacture a reason for them to remain in power forever. They will claim that the Constitution is out of date and no longer applies to us in this day and age. Mrs. Bill Clinton will have to stay in power to hob knob with her friends, Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez, among others.

I heard or read that we are in some ways more corrupt than the Weimar Republic that elected Hitler. I feel that we have our replacement for that maniacal ruler in Mrs. Bill Clinton. Instead of National Socialism, we will get Communism. It will not happen on day one. Hitler did not topple the Weimar Republic on day one. He bid his time until he had his ducks in a row and everything was set to run the coup. I believe that Mrs. Bill Clinton and her cronies will do just like the Brown Shirts did in Germany all those years ago. They will foment discontent until a savior has to emerge in the form of Mrs. Bill Clinton. She will then suspend all rights and institute martial law.

Our founders saw this day coming over 200 years ago. That is why the second amendment to the Constitution is there. It would be difficult to institute martial law with so many guns in the hands of American Patriots. The government would have a difficult time taking all those weapons, unless they could fool people into giving them up. I doubt that would happen. Americans are pretty protective of their guns. The government could bad the sale of guns and ammunition. That would hamper people from defending themselves. There are enough guns and ammunition in the public for a good resistance to develop.

I hope that saner heads prevail in the 2008 election and Republicans regain control of at least one house of Congress and the Presidency. That would insure that we will remain free and prosperous for at least 4 more years. That is one problem with American democracy; you can only guarantee your freedoms 4 years at a time.

I cannot think of a single reason to vote for Mrs. Bill Clinton except for the fact that she is the first credible female candidate. But, that is no reason to vote for anyone. You should never vote for someone based on something they cannot change. If you vote on race or gender, you will frequently be unhappy with your choice. If you vote on what the person believes, you will always be happy with your choice.

Dingy Harry has had a bad week. Yesterday, he was confident of winning two votes. One was the confirmation of a judge for the 5^th District court, he lost. The other was for the DREAM Act. In fact, he was so confident of the DREAM Act passing that he blocked out a day and a half for debate on the measure. It went down to defeat as well.

The district court judge vacancy has been open for over 1000 days. That is just too long to leave a judge position open. Judge Southwick will be an excellent judge and probably even a candidate for the Supreme Court. That is probably why Dingy Harry wanted to kill the nomination of Judge Southwick.

The DREAM Act was another amnesty attempt by the Democrats. They wanted to fool everyone into thinking that it was some minor tinkering with the immigration laws. In fact it was an amnesty bill. The grass roots found out about it and deluged the Senators with emails and FAX to tell their Senators that this is an amnesty bill and to vote no. Enough Senators got the message and the bill was voted down. Dingy Harry had counted his votes and was confident that he had the 60 votes he needed to vote cloture. He ended up with only 52.

This comes on the heels of his attempt to tie his energy bill to the fires in California and the fires in California to global warming. That was a disgraceful attempt at grandstanding. He got caught at it and back peddled quickly.

Other Democrats that tried to grandstand the fires in California are also feeling the heat from the public. They do not like people grandstanding when people are in harm’s way. The people in California are not calling themselves victims. They do not want to be treated as victims. The Democrats in Washington are trying to make them victims. This is an interesting confrontation. The people are standing up against the idiots in the Democrat Party that want to make everyone a victim. They also want to make everyone dependent on government.

The other interesting thing is that the State of California responded quickly and well to the emergency. This is in stark contrast to the response of the State of Louisiana. Louisiana fumbled the ball every time it had its hands on or near the ball. The federal government tried to bail out the State of Louisiana and was blamed for making the mess. That the mess was the responsibility of the State of Louisiana is crystal clear now. California is showing what should be done in an emergency. The federal authorities are playing their projected role as backup to the State authorities.

Speaking of the State of Louisiana, they recognized the mistake they made 4 years ago in electing Kathleen Blanco as Governor. She beat Bobby Jindal, a Republican, by a couple of points back then. Had Bobby Jindal been in charge, he would have had things organized and would have responded well. Bobby Jindal was elected in their preliminary round with 54% of the vote. There were 18 names on the ballot. That was quite an accomplishment. He is the first Republican to run Louisiana in a long time. His first priority is to get rid of the corruption that permeates Louisiana politics. That may take more than one term, but Louisiana elected someone who will get the job done. He has had major responsibility in the state for the past 12 years. His parents immigrated to the United States from India just prior to him being born. He is the first person of Indian descent to be elected Governor in the entire country. This is a big day for racial progress. He may go a long way in politics, maybe even to be President.

We have reached a new low in politics with regard to the environment. The erstwhile leader of the Senate, Harry Reid (Dingy Harry), held a press conference about an energy bill. At this press conference he said that the fires in California are a result of global warming. Then about 6 minutes later was asked about the fires being caused by global warming and denied saying that he said the fires were caused by global warming. How dumb can you be?

The fires have multiple causes. Some were caused by arson. Some were caused by natural causes. Some were caused by carelessness. What are fanning the blazes are the Santa Ana winds. The Santa Ana winds come almost every year to Southern California. They are hot and dry. Growing up in Southern California, I dreaded the Santa Ana winds. They were just awful. The high winds and fire are just asking for a disaster. The firefighters are unable to stand in front of the Santa Ana wind blown fires. They have to let the fires burn out before attacking what is left of the fire.

The fuel for the fire comes from the buildup of brush and debris in the forested areas. Normally people would go into the forest and clear out the brush and debris, but the environmentalists have kept them out with lawsuits. As a result, the brush and debris built up and became dry. When put with fire and wind, the fire took off.

So to blame the fire on global warming is just stupid. Global warming had nothing to do with the fire. The Santa Ana winds are caused by a cold low pressure in the Rocky Mountains. So, cold is responsible for the disaster. If global warming had a part, the cold low would not have formed and the Santa Ana winds would not be blowing. Then the fires would have been contained to a few acres. Now, there are thousands of acres of land that have burned. Over 500,000 people have been evacuated from their homes. The estimated loss is over $1 billion. That is a big loss and global warming had absolutely nothing to do with it.

Some politicians are also trying to blame the war front in Iraq for a lack of personnel and equipment. This is a bogus argument. You could put the entire US military out in California and they could not stop the fires. The high winds make it impossible to fight the fires, because they are moving too fast and are too hot.

What is happening to the politicians is that they are projecting their bias onto the fires. If they believe in global warming, then it has to be responsible for the fires. If they do not believe in killing Islamo-Fascists before they kill us, they will blame the war. Politicians need to get a real dose of reality. They cannot go off and blame the first thing that comes to mind or the popular thing to blame. They have to have the facts behind them when they make statements. People should hold these politicians accountable for their words. Unfortunately, people do not hold politicians accountable for their words. That is why politicians say stupid things and do not even blush when it is brought to their attention. They know the public will ignore any stupid thing they said.

That is changing with the internet. Things politicians said in the past can be brought back to haunt them. The comments today by Dingy Harry will dog him for some time. The colossal ignorance of the main stream media is coming to an end. The internet is making public figures accountable for things they say and do. One day that will happen even in the main stream media. I may not live long enough to see it, but it will happen.

There is a fund raising scandal that has not hit much of the main stream media. The Los Angeles Times has done some work identifying and finding some of the donors to the campaign of Mrs. Bill Clinton. The campaign lists are of donors of Chinese origin.

There are two types of donors on the list. The first on the list are people that do exist. They generally earn minimum wage or just above minimum wage. They have no property except for some clothes. They donate the maximum to the campaign. When questioned, the people generally answer that they were told to go to the meeting but they did not donate any money.

The second group is much shadier. This group is unable to be found at all. The Times would go to the listed address and nobody at that address can identify that the individual has ever lived there. The Times would also go to places of business and ask for the individual. People at the business would never have heard of people by the name listed on the campaign donor list. These people also would give the maximum to the campaign of Mrs. Bill Clinton.

There appears to be something truly fishy here. These people either do not exist or if they do exist are dirt poor. In either case, they are able to give the maximum $2300 to the campaign of Mrs. Bill Clinton. Where I grew up, they would call that fraud. In Democrat circles, they just call it fund raising.

What I think is happening in the Chinese community is that someone is gathering names and generating Chinese sounding names. They take a bundle of money and donate it to the Mrs. Bill Clinton campaign. On the records, the campaign money came from these dirt poor individuals or non-existent individuals. In reality, it came from the Red Chinese government. The Clinton’s have raised a lot of money from the Communist Chinese government over the years. They have similar goals for America, so the Communist Chinese are very willing to donate.

This is a main stream media group doing the investigating. Why aren’t the other main stream media outlets picking up on their information? Well, it looks bad for the anointed Democrat candidate, Mrs. Bill Clinton. If this were a Republican, or another Democrat, the results would be all over the place and the candidate would be out of the running by yesterday. Because it is Mrs. Bill Clinton, and the Clinton’s can do no wrong according to the main stream media, they will not report it. The information has gotten out, but only on Republican internet sites.

The corruption of the Clinton’s is something that I would not have believed possible in an American politician. Sure some politicians take graft under the table, but not to the extent that the Clinton’s do it. The really brazen part about the Clinton’s is that they do it out in the open and do not care if they get caught. They know they will not be prosecuted or if prosecuted will not be convicted.

Look at the current case against Mrs. Bill Clinton, all of her money men are going to prison, yet she is free as a bird. The prosecutor has copies of Mrs. Bill Clinton on tape saying she was involved in all the planning and execution of the crime. The prosecutor will not prosecute her because she is a powerful member of the Democrat Party. She could destroy the prosecutor if she so chose. Any prosecutor that chose to prosecute her for her crimes would find him/herself destroyed professionally. He/She would not be able to prosecute anything after attempting to prosecute her royal highness. The case would fall apart as witnesses would find themselves taking a long dirt nap or so terrorized that they would be unable to testify. The current lawsuit is a perfect time to get the Clinton’s in prison where they belong. No prosecutor will touch it. That is a shame and a disgrace for our legal system that someone is above the law.

This corrupt politician wants to be the leader of the United States. This person wants to destroy the ideals of the United States and turn us into a third world country. We will be just another communist country when she is through with her many proposals to destroy all that is America.

I am heartened to see that Evangelical Christian Leaders are now starting to migrate to Mitt Romney. There has been about one or two a day for the past week. That is not a lot, but it does indicate that a trend is starting. Evangelical leaders have decided that Rudy Giuliani is not suitable for a nominee. They looked at the list of likely nominees and selected the one that was closest to their positions on the issues. They also made the decision on whether the candidate was positioned to make use of their support.

Mitt Romney fit criteria of the current list of Evangelical Leaders most closely. He was one of the three most likely candidates to be nominated. The other two are Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson. The Evangelical Leaders decided they did not want either of those candidates to be the Republican Presidential candidate.

Mike Huckabee has been mentioned as a potential recipient of the Evangelical support. The only problem is that Mike Huckabee is not positioned to win the nomination. Mike Huckabee is a real nice guy. He is great on the issues. He just does not have the fire in the belly to actually win the nomination. The ones with the fire in the Republican field are Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani.

Mitt Romney is positioned to win the nomination. Without the Evangelical support he is leading the polls in Iowa and New Hampshire. He is close in South Carolina. He is leading or a close second in most of the rest of the states. With Evangelical support he should be able to take almost all of the Southern states. He would probably be able to take most of the Midwestern states as well.

I look for this trend to continue. Evangelical leaders will continue to move to Mitt Romney’s campaign because his campaign is the best place for them to be to stop Rudy Giuliani. If they put themselves anywhere else, they are likely to make it possible for Rudy Giuliani to win the nomination. That would be a disaster for the Republican Party. The Republican Party has to have a pro-life candidate. Rudy is anti-unborn life.  We need a nominee that reflects the platform of the party. We need someone who is different than the Democrat candidate.

One thing I really like about Mitt Romney’s campaign is the “Ask Mitt Anything” meetings that he holds. He allows questions from anyone about anything. He generally does extremely well. Holding these meetings entirely unscripted makes it likely that he would make a mistake every now and then. He has made his mistakes, but they have diminished as he has gone through the campaign. That will help him when he debates the Democrat candidate.

Mrs. Bill Clinton has held the town meetings like all the other candidates. Her meetings are entirely scripted. There are no unscripted questions. All questions and answers are prepared in advance. This is to reduce her usual foot in mouth problem. She still makes the usual number of mental mistakes like all candidates. She is not prepared to be asked anything by anybody. For a supposedly smart woman, she goes out of her way to make sure that all her events are entirely pre-planned. That is no way to handle the diverse problems that arise in a real campaign or if she held the Presidency. She would be unable to react quickly to problems as they arise. She would have to have her answers scripted out ahead of time. Not good if an emergency arose.

It looks to me that the candidates will be Mitt Romney for the Republicans and Mrs. Bill Clinton for the Democrats. That gives people the biggest choice difference between two candidates in my lifetime. Mitt Romney wants to get the country back to individual freedom. Mrs. Bill Clinton wants to increase socialism and government dependence. The choice will be freedom and light or dependence and darkness. I like our odds in that scenario.

A big issue in the Phoenix area and all of Arizona is illegal immigration. The local talk shows are discussing different aspects of illegal immigration almost every day. The Phoenix and Mesa Police Chiefs have chimed in with their take on illegal immigration.

The Police Chiefs contend that illegal immigrants commit crimes at a rate that is similar to that by citizens of the United States. Since Phoenix and Mesa Police Departments do not keep information on relating immigration status to crime, I wonder where they get their information. Also, people that break the law to enter the country are less concerned about obeying laws than are ordinary citizens.

The Police Chiefs also claim that the police cannot ask every brown person what their immigration status is because that would be racial profiling. When people talk about illegal immigration, they are not talking about race. Illegal immigrants do come from England, Wales, Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Germany and other countries where the population is generally considered white. The majority of illegal immigrants in the Phoenix area do come from Mexico and other Latin American countries. But, even here the illegal immigrant may come from China or Nigeria. Race has nothing to do with illegal immigration. For the Police Chiefs to inject race into their argument against enforcing immigration status of criminals is dishonest.

The police unions in the Phoenix area are speaking out in favor of police officers being able to contact federal immigration officers when necessary. They are not talking making raids to round up illegal immigrants. They are talking about contacting immigration when they arrest a suspect that is here in the country illegally. The contact would be done at the officer’s discretion.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio is actively rounding up illegal immigrants in Maricopa County. He is even going into cities where the police cannot contact the immigration authorities and rounding up illegal immigrants. He has been quite successful in finding houses where they are housed. He has arrested the people responsible for smuggling the illegal immigrants into the country. This has made Sheriff Joe very popular. He is so popular that it is unlikely that anyone could defeat him for reelection any time soon.

All of this talk is about finding criminal illegal aliens in the US. The problem should be cut off at the source. The border is so porous that when someone is sent back across the border, they almost beat the bus driver back to the US. Deport them on Monday and on Wednesday they are back on the street. We need to make it so when they are deported, they stay deported. We also need to make it so that no more illegal immigrants come into the country and commit crimes. My position is to tighten up the border first. Then, after the border is as secure as possible, we deal with those that are already here. Until the border is secure, it doesn’t much matter what we do with the illegal aliens here already, more will come. The source needs to be cut off. Will we ever cut off 100% of the illegal immigrants, no. But to cut it to 5-10% of the current level would be fantastic.

In a recent analysis of the current state of the campaign I did not include Fred Thompson in the analysis. I did not do so because of his stumbles out of the gate. His late entry into the race made it so important for him to come out running. He ambled out of the gate and has stumbled a number of times. He seems ill prepared for the nominating process and would be fresh meat for the Clinton propaganda machine.

The other candidates seem much more prepared and articulate on the issues. They are ready for the rough and tumble world of politics in 2007-8. Fred Thompson is ready for the campaign of 1980.

Of the current slate there are a number of candidates that I do like besides Mitt Romney. Mike Huckabee would be my second choice. Huckabee’s biggest problem is that he is too nice. He does not seem willing to fight for the nomination. If he is not willing to fight for the nomination, is he willing to fight the Clinton propaganda machine? If he is not willing to fight for the nomination would he be able to stand up to the Islamo-Fascists? Or Russia? Or China? These are important questions and one that only Mike Huckabee can answer. Unfortunately, in today’s shortened campaign, he is not going to get a chance to lay out his plans fully. He will have to close up shop pretty soon.

John McCain will never be nominated for President by the Republican Party. He would have a difficult time getting re-elected to the Senate from Arizona. Conservatives do not like the way he pushed campaign finance reform and took away free speech. They also do not like his stand on judges. He does not stand a chance.

Tancredo and Hunter are good men and are working hard for the nomination. Neither stands a chance. Tancredo does not stand a chance because he only has one issue. On that issue he is exactly right. Unfortunately, there are a lot of other issues on which a campaign has to run. Duncan Hunter is one of the very best candidates in the GOP. He does not have much of a following. That will mean he will go the way of Sam Brownback in the near future.

Ron Paul is right about the Constitution. Unfortunately he is completely wrong about the war against Islamo-Fascism. He has drawn himself into a corner as a nut and a kook. As a result he could never be elected President, even if he was the only name on the ballot.

That leaves just two candidates with a real shot at being the Republican nominee, Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney. Rudy is a social liberal. Romney is a social conservative. On almost all other issues their stands are similar. So, as a social conservative voter, I have to look at the entire candidate. I choose Mitt Romney because my values are closest to Mitt Romney’s values. There are a lot of Christian leaders that are also seeing exactly the same thing in the past few days. That should help his standing with Christian conservatives. He has been held back with Christian Conservatives because the fact that he belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Having so many Christian leaders come out in the same week will greatly help his standing. All of them made basically the same points. The main thrust is that Christian Conservatives cannot always have someone who is an Evangelical Christian running for President. When there is someone running for President who holds similar values and is not an Evangelical Christian, Conservative Christians should consider voting for that person. I think that this is just the beginning of the tide turning toward Mitt Romney for President.

With Christian Conservatives starting to turn toward Mitt Romney, things are looking up for his campaign. He will most likely win Iowa and New Hampshire. Those victories plus the Christian Conservative voters should give him a boost in South Carolina. If by some miracle, he pulls off a win in South Carolina there would be no stopping him on the way to the nomination. Even if he pulls a close second in South Carolina may be enough to propel him to victory in Super Tuesday.

Once the Republican nominee is decided the flood gates will open to help that candidate finance their campaign. Mitt Romney has done well in the financial end of the campaign, but wins in Iowa and New Hampshire would help in fund raising. Winning the nomination would allow every Republican donor to give to the actual Republican nominee. That should eliminate much of the Democrat lead in fund raising.

It looks like the Democrats in the House got the message about the bill condemning Turkey over something that happened almost 100 years ago. They have decided not to put that bill up for a vote. That way they saved a lot of Democrat seats in the House.

It does highlight how poor a job Nancy Pelosi is doing as Speaker of the House. She has to be the worst Speaker of the House ever. If she is not the worst Speaker of the House ever, she is surely in the bottom 3. Nancy Pelosi cannot get anything done. The Republicans have figured out how to bottle up everything she wants to do that is bad. That is great for America and bad for the Democrat Party.

Having the House and Senate tied up in knots is a good thing. It means that they are not trying to get into my pocket to steal some more of my hard earned money. They are also not trying to put more restrictions on my freedom. Both of those are good things. They help maintain what is great about America.

Too many Republicans feel it is inevitable that the Democrats will push through laws that will socialize the United States. As a result, they are afraid to stand up and say no. They would rather go along to get along than stand in the way of destruction. If Republicans don’t stand in the way of the Democrat Party and their march to socialism, who will? We need to elect people like my Representative, Jeff Flake, to stand in the way of destruction. He is standing up to the socialists and making a point. He does not have enough support from the Republican Party to prevail, but he at least is trying. Most of the rest are lying down and being walked upon.

We need to repeal the socialist laws that we have right now that are Unconstitutional. This SCHIP program they are talking about right now is unconstitutional. There are no provisions in the Constitution that give the federal government the right to insure anyone, let alone children. It may sound like a good thing to do, but the state governments can do it. The federal government cannot do it by the Constitution. Of course, almost no member of the House or Senate has any concept of what the Constitution says.

One good law put on the books here in Arizona is that each classroom has to have a copy of the Constitution on the wall. It is too small to be read unless you are up close, but I do like to read different portions when I have time in the classroom. As a result, I am better informed on exactly what the Constitution says and what it does not say. The biggest lie to come out of Congress is the “commerce” clause. That is a clause that is not even in the Constitution. It was just used to describe the Constitution. That means everything done under the “commerce” clause is unconstitutional.

The Constitution is very clear. There are certain things the federal government can do. Those are outlined in the Constitution. Everything else is left to the states and the people. If the federal government only did what it was supposed to do, we could cut the budget by at least half. That should be able to reduce taxes by at least 50% to cover the necessary expenses. Reducing taxes would stimulate the economy and result in higher prosperity for all. The only downside is the number of federal employees that would be unemployed. That would only be temporary until they decided to work for a living.

I would hope that all Americans read the Constitution. It is actually easy to read. It may be couched in language from the 18^th century, but the meaning shines forth. Lawyers are really not needed in trying to understand what the framers were trying to say in any particular section. Of course, lawyers can argue over the meaning of the word “is”. Lawyers can argue over anything at any time and come up with nothing. They do have their place and time. I just wish they would stick to what they were meant to do and keep their noses out of my business.

Here in the Phoenix area illegal immigration is a hot topic. Last week, a policeman was shot on a routine traffic stop. Luckily, he was shot in the protective vest he was wearing. The person that shot him was arrested a short time later. That person was an illegal alien from Mexico.

The policeman has come out and said that the shooting of police by illegal aliens would be reduced if Phoenix allowed the police to work with the federal immigration authorities. The Phoenix police union has backed the officer for his statement. They echoed his statement and added some additional information and statistics. The Mayor has said that as an elected official he cannot get involved in the dispute. Phoenix has a city manager and a committee that handles police matters.

There also have been articles stating that crimes committed by illegal aliens are committed at the same rate as those by native-born Americans. That may be a true statement. But, if the illegal aliens were not here, their crimes could not be committed at all. The fact that Phoenix is a sanctuary city makes the situation that much more of a problem. Phoenix needs to get with the situation and stop trying to be a sanctuary for the illegal aliens.

The voters of Arizona and the Phoenix area have spoken. We want illegal immigration controlled. We passed a referendum making the employers check the immigration status of all employees. If they knowingly hire illegal immigrants, the business could be shut down for a period of time. That is a stiff penalty and one that got the attention of the business community. They are trying to get the referendum repealed by the courts. But, the operative word in the referendum is the word knowingly. Hiring one by mistake is not a problem. The problem arises when an illegal immigrant is hired knowing that the person is an illegal immigrant. This would most likely be shown by a pattern of abuse, not a single case.

As a result of the referendum, some illegal immigrants have moved out of Arizona. That is a good thing. It makes it easier for legal Arizona residents to find a job. The whiners and criers are in full throat, but they always are. The whiners want us to feel sorry for the illegal immigrant and allow them to stay. The problem is that the illegal immigrant is taking jobs away from Arizona residents and people don’t like that. Illegal immigrants are also committing a lot of high profile crimes. The people don’t like that either.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio has tapped into this energy. He is actively pursuing illegal immigrants in Maricopa County. He is actively working with the federal immigration officials. There have been a number of high profile busts of illegal immigrants and those who bring them in. As a result, Sheriff Joe’s approval numbers are climbing higher and higher. People get upset with Sheriff Joe’s tactics sometimes, but he gets results and people like that. He will be reelected Sheriff as long as he wants.

As a sanctuary city, Phoenix should not receive federal money. Any sanctuary city should not receive any federal aid. If a city feels that they do not want to obey federal law, they should not get federal money to not obey the law. When they decide to obey the law, then they can have their federal aid. That would get the attention of a lot of sanctuary cities real quick. Their principle would disappear when their budgets ran red because of their stance on lawbreaking. It would also help the federal government balance its checkbook. That also is a good thing.

We need to get a handle on illegal immigration in this country. The best way is to build the fence all the way along the border with Mexico. That is across nature preserves and everything. Any unfenced area would be destroyed by people using it as a highway to enter the US. Once we slowed the illegal immigration to a manageable number, we can address what to do with the illegal immigrants that are here now. Until we stop the flow, talking about what to do with those here now is stupid. If we are nice to those here now, more would come and the problem would be worse. We have to stop the flow, and then worry about what to do with the ones that do not leave.

Last night, the Colorado Rockies completed a sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 6-4 victory. During the series I was on the horns of a dilemma.

Before the Colorado Rockies were started, I lived in or near Denver. I supported Major League Baseball adding a team in Colorado. The Denver Bears were a good Minor League team, but Denver was ready for Major League Baseball. When the Rockies were born, I became a hard core Rockies fan.

A few years later, we were living near Phoenix, AZ and Major League Baseball added a team in Arizona. At first, I was a die hard Rockies fan and a luke warm Diamondbacks fan. By the time they won the pennant and the World Series, I was a die hard Diamondbacks fan and a strong supporter of the Rockies. That is where my allegiance stood at the beginning of this series.

I wanted both teams to make it to the World Series. I was rooting for a close series where both teams could say they gave their all. As to who won, I was willing to let the chips fall where they may. I would have been happy with either team in the World Series. The Rockies were just too hot and too good to let the Diamondbacks get any oxygen. They got every seeing-eye bounce and fluke play. They got clutch plays from just about everyone. They ended up defeating the Diamondbacks at their own game, 4 games to 0.

The Rockies have a reputation for hitting and winning games 10-9. They won this series with good pitching. The Diamondbacks got a total of 8 runs in 4 games, with 4 coming in the last game. That is no way to win a series or even a game. The Rockies did get some hitting. They averaged almost 6 runs a game. They never had the type of game that they are famous for where they score 10 or more runs. They just got enough to win.

The Rockies are on the type of tear that just may propel them to the World Series title. They have won 21 of 22 games. Almost every one of those games was a must win game. They had to win almost every one of those games to be eligible for the post-season. The only game they lost was to the Diamondbacks.  The Diamondbacks had to win one to win the National League West. Other than that, they have been perfect for almost a month. They will be difficult for any team from the American League to handle right now.

The Red Sox and Indians are playing a tough series that may go 6 or 7 games. That will give the Rockies an advantage in that they will be able to start their best pitcher in game one and the Red Sox or Indians will not have that luxury. If the Rockies get up 2 games to 0, the series may be over. They are playing that well right now. I am not sure if the series starts in the National or American League city. The way the Rockies are playing right now, it doesn’t matter where the game is played.

My only regret is that the Rockies or Diamondbacks could not play the Anaheim Angels in the World Series. The Angels are my favorite American League team. Then I would have been completely happy. I will just have to settle for the Rockies to steam roll whichever American League team that makes it to the World Series.

As the primaries get closer, it gets increasingly clear that the Democrats are going to nominate Mrs. Bill Clinton for President. The polls consistently have her twenty or more points ahead in every state, except for Iowa. In Iowa, she is neck and neck with either Obama or Edwards, depending on the poll and the time in question. She can win the nomination without Iowa, but losing the first out of the box would put a hole in her coronation. Her goons are working overtime to insure that Edwards and Obama are not working to build a lead, but trying to keep their head above water. Their attack dogs are out in full force.

Mrs. Bill Clinton is unsure of her ability to win the Presidency. She is now playing the woman card. She is claiming that votes by women for a woman will propel her to the Presidency. Playing that card so early in the campaign season seems to me desperation. There is something out there that she knows and is not yet on any one else’s radar. She doesn’t have to play the woman card to beat Obama and Edwards. She only needs to play the woman card to beat the Republican in November. That is a card to be played after she is officially nominated in July 2008. Playing it now makes it lose its appeal as a trump card.

Since we know the Democrat candidate, who will she run against? Will it be Rudy or Mitt? I think all the other candidates are good people, but will drop out of the race as they realize they cannot win. John McCain has already realized that Mitt Romney is ahead of him and will defeat him. He is trying to claim that Mitt Romney is really a Democrat is Republican clothing. It won’t work. Mitt Romney is too closely allied with the conservative wing of the Republican Party to have anyone fall for that line.

Rudy has a lot of positives going for him. But, he only has one issue on which to run. Now, it is the most important issue in the race for the 2008 Presidency. But there are secondary issues that are important after the candidate gets elected. The most important of which are appointments to the Supreme Court. Experts think that there could be as many as four Supreme Court nominations in the next four years. If that is the case, the person in the Presidency will get to decide the direction of the Supreme Court for the next generation. Rudy Giuliani promises to put judges on the Supreme Court like Roberts and Alito. He may do just that. The problem is that he would be appointing judges that do not believe as he does on social issues. If I were President, I would select judges that saw the Constitution as I did. Rudy would have to select against his preference. That is not likely. That is Rudy’s Achilles heel. That is where he will fail to win the nomination. He cannot be trusted to appoint judges that will take a strict constructionist view of the Constitution.

Mitt Romney has the same view of the war as Rudy Giuliani. He is just not perceived as strong as Rudy on that issue. That is because Rudy had the opportunity to show his strength on 9/11 in New York. Mitt Romney was Governor of Mass., and had a smaller stage. Mitt Romney is much more conservative on the other issues that most Republican voters care about. As a result, there should not be as much worry over who Mitt will appoint as judges as there is for Rudy. What is causing Mitt Romney a problem right now is his religion. Mitt comes from the most conservative Christian church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or Mormons. The more liberal Christian churches have a problem voting for a more conservative Mormon as President. That is beginning to change. There was a memo put out by an important Christian activist urging Christians to support Mitt Romney over Rudy Giuliani. His memo basically highlighted the issues that I highlighted in the paragraph above. People have to remember that they are not electing a minister; they are electing a President of the United States. The issue of where the person stands on the Constitution is more important than which scriptures the person reads.

When it is all said and done, I believe that Mitt Romney will come out ahead in the Republican race. The squabble over his being a Mormon will fade as more people get to know him and where he stands on the issues. When the real campaign starts for the Presidency, I do not feel people will have a problem with Mitt Romney at all. They will have a choice of his optimistic view of America or Mrs. Bill Clinton’s pessimistic view of America. In all previous elections, people choose the more optimistic view of America.

My hope is that the people of the United States will not do what the people of the Book of Mormon did so many times, choose an evil leader. The leader was not perceived as evil. The person was always trying to do what they thought was right for the people. When the people made the wrong choice, it took a lot of sorrow and bloodshed to make things right again. So far in the United States, we have chosen wisely. Even our choice of Bill Clinton was wrong, but did not result in evil. I fear Mrs. Bill Clinton. She has plotted to get the Presidency for a long time. She intends to turn America into a second rate European power. America should be a beacon on a hill for all that want to be free. We should not be a dependent European state. I think people will see what she wants to do. Unfortunately, she makes it sound like something good, just like all evil people do.

On the radio coming in I heard about the Denver Public Schools notifying parents when their children are obese. Now, it is important to know that your child is overweight, but it is not the job of the school to notify the parents that the child is overweight.

Schools are supposed to teach children how to read and write and perform the other tasks necessary to become a functioning member of society. In general, the schools have been failing at that for some time. There are far too many kids that are coming through the system that are functionally illiterate.

My schooling was on the last wave of the teaching is important phase. It was also the beginning of the feel good phase of education. They introduced the “New Math” while I was in school. I missed the new math because I was advanced, but my brother was one of the first ones taught with that method. New math has evolved into no math or anything math. When I was in school we had to memorize a lot of math situations including the math times tables. Now students are rewarded if they get close with a math problem.

English was important and I had to take English in every grade through high school. Now they do not have to take English every year. I had to write reports almost every year and the reports had to be technically accurate. Now if they write a report, it only has to be close to be good enough. My students come into my class with very poor English skills. Most of them cannot write very well. Their research report turns out ok, but the discussion board comments have numerous spelling and grammar errors. How can students go through the school system and not know how to write.

Most students that attend my community college have to take remedial math before they can start college level math. That happened when I was coming out of high school, but not to the extent that it does today. Math instruction has really gotten bad over the years since I graduated from high school. The new math was the start of the destruction of math instruction in the elementary and secondary schools.

Science instruction has gotten bad also. When I was in school we did hands on experiments in chemistry, physics and biology. Now, students do most of their experiments on the computer. I am not knocking the computer and there are good programs out there, but not for experiments. I for one do not want a doctor that has only done computer experiments working on me. That doctor would not know that everyone is slightly different and would not be able to cope with the physical differences in people. Some computer experiments are fine, but they should also do hands on experiments. If for no other reason than to learn that things can go wrong.

When you look at a high school catalog of classes you see many choices. Far more choices than were available when I was in high school. Much of that is good. It gives students a chance to explore different options. But, I am afraid that much of the options have come at the expense of the classes that schools are supposed to teach.

One of the most important subjects a high school is to teach is history and civics. The two go hand in hand. American students today have a difficult time finding different countries on a map of the world. They also have a difficult time naming different members of our government. Students need to understand that as imperfect as it is, the American system of government is the best system of government on the planet. They also need to understand that even though people in the past made mistakes; we cannot judge them based on values of today. We have to judge them based on the values of the time in which they lived. For example, Thomas Jefferson and George Washington owned slaves. Some today think that makes them evil. It does not make them evil. In the time in which they lived and the place they lived, it was acceptable. Both of them also spoke and wrote against slavery. They were unable to end the practice.

Schools have a lot to do. Much what a school is supposed to do, they are not doing. They always find money for these liberal feel good programs, but never for improving the quality of education. The schools always complain that they do not have enough money to provide a quality education. There is a problem with this scenario. If they have money for feel good programs but no money for critical programs, they are not using their money wisely. If they used their money better and cut out the feel good liberal programs, the schools would have a lot of money they could put into primary educational programs. Would that solve the problem? No, because liberal teachers try to infuse everything with liberal ideals. I have seen memos where even science teachers are supposed to include diversity into their curriculum.

Schools need to worry about core educational values. They should only dabble in peripheral programs when they have a surplus of funds. If they dabble in peripheral programs and neglect core programs they should have their funding cut until they get the message. That will never happen as it is for the “children”. And anything for the children cannot be cut no matter how badly managed or inefficient.

The Democrats have done it again. They have sunk to a new low in the war against Islamo-Fascism. Instead of calling our troops murders or worse or calling the war lost, they decided to get one of our most important allies mad at us.

The Democrats in the House have cooked up a resolution condemning the killing of Armenians in WWI by Ottoman Turks as genocide. This has made the country of Turkey, the Ottoman Turks ancestor, angry. Turkey has recalled their ambassador to the United States. Officially, it is for questioning over some minor diplomatic point. Unofficially, it is for the resolution in the House. Now, the resolution in the House has not been voted on by the full House. It has just been voted on in committee. Of course, all the Democrats voted for the resolution, all the Republicans voted against the resolution.

We are on the verge of actually winning the Iraq phase of the war against Islamo-Fascism. The Shiites and Sunni’s are finally in agreement on one thing, al Qaeda must go. That is a big step. As a result of this agreement, al Qaeda is losing personnel at a record rate and we are not losing very many soldiers.

The Democrats cannot allow the Iraq phase of the war to be successful. They have decided it is a failure. They have invested a lot of time and effort into making sure that the Iraq phase of the war is perceived as a failure. The main stream media has also invested a lot of time and effort into making sure that the American public sees the effort in Iraq as a failure. When the success started, the news media started reporting everything except for what is happening in Iraq. The Arizona Republic has not had an article about the war in Iraq for a long time. It used to have reports on Iraq daily.

This split with Turkey is very dangerous to our efforts in Iraq. We ship most of our supplies and troops through Turkey. If Turkey gets its panties in a knot over this resolution, they could deny our use of their air space for our effort. It would not stop the war effort, but make it a lot harder. That is why this resolution is so stupid.

Rush Limbaugh was beside himself with anger over the Democrat effort to sabotage our efforts in Iraq. He did not use the word Treason, but came very close to doing so. The Democrats in the House know exactly what they are doing in bringing up this resolution at this time. They know that Turkey cannot allow this resolution to go unnoticed. They know that the only response Turkey can have to the resolution is to deny us use of their air space. They also know that denying us the use of Turkish air space will severely hamper our war effort in Iraq. Since the Democrats in the House know all of these things, any patriotic member of the House of Representatives would not vote for the bill. In fact, any patriotic member of the House of Representatives would work to insure that this bill never sees the light of day. Unfortunately, we do not have patriotic members of the Democratic Party in the House leadership. They only see one thing and that is Democrat power.  Good news out of Iraq means bad news for Democrats in the 2008 election. Therefore, insure that only bad news comes out of Iraq before the election.

If this is not treasonous thought, I do not know what is. Any patriot would want the United States to be victorious over our enemies. The Democrat Party leadership is not concerned with winning. They are only concerned with what will happen in the 2008 elections. Good news out of Iraq will mean bad news for Democrats in 2008. Good news will increase support for the war and increase support for Republicans. Support for Republicans is worse than losing a war. What warped thinking?

Unfortunately, Democrat voters do not think. They just vote as they are told to vote. If the Democrats put a pig up for election and they said to vote for the pig, Democrat voters would vote for the pig. If Republicans put up a pig, Republican voters would reject the notion of voting for a pig. Democrats have been able to persuade people to vote for a dead person over a live person. I still do not know how they were able to do that.

The Democrat Leadership in the House is getting ready to commit treason. They want to destroy the war effort so badly that they are willing to destroy a long standing friendship with another country just to accomplish that end. What else can you call it but treason? It is definitely not patriotism. It is not even making something right that has not been said, it was voted on in 1975 and 1984 and passed. It is only happening now to destroy the war effort and to help the Democrats in 2008. It should be held up as an example of the depths of depravity to which the Democrat Party will go to destroy this country in order to get elected.

It looks like Al Gore is going to win the Nobel Peace Prize. He had to cancel some appearances to make a special “global warming” trip. This is just a couple of days before the announcement of the Nobel Prize. It will be announced on Friday.

The Nobel Peace Prize used to be a highly desirable prize to win. It still carries a lot of cachet. The monetary part of it is still no slouch. But, after Yassar Arafat won the award a few years ago it lost its luster for me. Every recipient since then has either been anti-American or pushed a policy that was anti-American. Al Gore is no exception to this rule. He is pushing a policy that is anti-western civilization and that also means anti-American.

Al Gore thinks that he will save the planet if he is made ruler. If he can make the rules everyone else has to live by, the world will be saved. Once the world is saved, Al Gore will get all the honor and glory associated with saving the world. He feels cheated out of the Presidency of the United States, so he set his sights higher, ruler of the world.

This reminds me of the story of the council in Heaven. Two plans were put forth, one plan was by Satan. He had a plan where everyone would be saved. He would have everyone come into a pre-programmed life and have pre-programmed experiences. When everyone passed the test and made it back to Heaven, Satan would receive the glory.

Jesus put forth a plan where everyone had free agency. They were free to choose for themselves which path they would take. As a result, not everyone would make it back to live with our Father in Heaven. But Jesus wanted the glory to go to the Father.

We were given the chance to choose which plan we wanted to follow on earth. One third of the host of heaven chose Satan’s plan and were cast out. Two thirds of the host of heaven chose Jesus’ plan and are in the process of coming to earth.

Al Gore’s plan reminds me so much of Satan’s plan that I am having trouble telling them apart. Now, I do not have the details of either plan, but I would be willing to bet that they are very close to one another. I am not saying that Al Gore is Satan. I am not even saying that Al Gore is a follower of Satan. I am just saying that the plan he came up with looks a lot like the plan Satan came up with. Al Gore came up with the plan with the best of intentions. Satan came up with the plan with the best of intentions.

Al Gore is a socialist at heart. He feels that he knows how to run the US economy better than anyone else. He can run (put in whatever you want here) better than anyone else. Therefore, he should be given the chance to prove he can run everything better. That is why he should have been made President. Since the US voting population is so stupid, he will become ruler of the world and stick it to them. That will show those that did not vote for him that he is the best person for the job.

He has competition for this ruler gig. Bill Clinton thinks that he should be ruler of the world. Mrs. Bill Clinton thinks that she should be ruler of the world. John Kerry thinks that he should be President of the US. There are many other socialist Democrats that think that they should be President of the US, or ruler of the world. That is one reason there is so much bad blood between Al Gore and Mrs. Bill Clinton. He thinks she under cut his chance to be President.

I think you have to be a socialist Democrat to get these delusions of grandeur. Republicans with their view of the world would have a difficult time getting caught up in thoughts of being the rightful ruler of the US. They may want to be President, but someone has to be President. They do not feel that they are the rightful ruler. When Republicans finish being President, they leave the stage and don’t look back. When Democrats finish being President, they keep trying to remain President. Look at Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. Both of them are still trying to be important like when they were President. Then contrast that with George H.W. Bush who is content to sit on the sidelines and enjoy retirement. Presidents Reagan and Ford did the same thing.

We should only elect someone who does not feel the job is theirs. We should elect someone who holds the job of President with reverence. They are holding the job temporarily. Of the current candidates, there is a difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. The Republicans hold the office with reverence. The Democrats believe the job belongs to them and they hold it with contempt.

Al Gore’s movie is finally getting its just desserts. A judge in England has ruled that before the movie can be shown in England, the students have to be told of 11 falsehoods contained in the movie. To take those 11 items out of the movie would completely gut the content of the movie. There would be almost nothing left. That is so great. Thanks to our friends in England for having the good sense to see the truth.

It looks like Al Gore is going to win the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday. It is based in large part on the movie he made. That is just great. He gets the top Nobel Prize and it is all based on lies. How appropriate for what that prize has become in the past few years. It has become more an anti-American prize than a real Peace Prize. The winner has to denounce America or work to destroy America in order to win the prize. Al Gore will win the prize because it is anti-American values, which is the same as anti-American.

One of the facts that Al Gore got wrong and the judge got wrong as well is that Al Gore claims that the seas will rise almost 23 feet, the judge claims they will rise 4 feet. Both are inaccurate. The seas will rise a few inches at most. The rise will only occur if the current slow rise in temperature continues for a long period of time without interruption. That is highly unlikely. Most likely there will be periods of cooling mixed in and that will modify downward the rise in the level of the sea.

Al Gore also claims that Antarctica is shrinking. Almost all experts agree that Antarctica is at least maintaining its ice level and most think that it is growing. The temperature in Antarctica is dropping and so the ice is not melting like Al Gore thinks it is.

Al Gore claims that the rise in carbon dioxide led to the end of the ice age. The data shows that the rise in carbon dioxide occurred 800-2000 years after the rise in temperatures. Al Gore thinks that carbon dioxide is causing the current very mild rise in temperature. He is wrong about that also. Carbon dioxide rises after the rise in temperature, not before the rise in temperature. The current carbon dioxide level is far below historical averages for carbon dioxide levels.

Al Gore claims that the Gulf Stream is disappearing. Nothing could be further from the truth. It seems that the Gulf Stream has seasonal fluctuations. If you take readings at low level periods, you can think it is disappearing. If you then take them during high level periods you know it is not disappearing.

The movie “An Inconvenient Truth” contained very little truth. It contained a lot of scare information and falsehoods. Scientists that contributed to the movie had to know that they were giving false information. Scientists cannot be so stupid as to believe what Al Gore was saying. Unfortunately, I can vouch that some scientists believe Al Gore. Whether someone believes Al Gore or not has more to do with their politics than with science. Socialists and those that lean socialist will believe Al Gore. Those that believe in freedom will not believe Al Gore. It is as simple as that. The science is also simple. There is no evidence that supports Al Gore’s position. There is a lot of information that supports people that do not believe him.

That brings me back to my usual theme when talking about Al Gore or his global climate change advocates; they are not concerned about the environment. They are only concerned with bringing in a socialist workers paradise. The avenue they have chosen is the environmental one. If they can convince people to give up their Constitutional rights because it will “help” the environment, they can then install communism in the US. The environmental movement is just a front for the communist groups. We have to stop them at this stage. If they start instituting communism, we are lost as a country.
