The Whole Package

In looking at the candidates for President, declared and undeclared, you have to look at the whole package to determine which one is best. In looking at the Democrat candidates, all are lacking in the honesty category among others. That disqualifies them from further consideration.

In looking at the Republicans, there are only three that meet the main categories. They have to be strong on Islamo-Fascism. They have to be pro-life. They need to believe that judges are there to judge the law, not make law. The three are Mitt Romney, declared and Newt Gingrich and Fred Thompson, undeclared. Of the three, Newt has the heaviest baggage that will make it difficult for him to win the Presidency. Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson are out of the same mold. Fred Thompson has better name recognition and stage presence. Mitt Romney has better experience for the job of a chief executive.

Since only Mitt Romney is declared, my support is for him. He is right on all the issues. He has loads of executive experience. He has tons of integrety. Nobody comes close in all those categories. Fred Thompson would come in a close second. If Mitt is not the nominee, I would opt for Fred Thompson. He would be a viable alternative. Newt would be a great President. He just would have a difficult time winning. No Democrat should be allowed to even learn where the White House is.

Senator McCain

Today, I heard Hugh Hewitt talking about Senator McCain his guests. One was the Mayor of Anaheim, the town I grew up in. The Mayor was supporting Senator McCain. He was saying that Senator McCain's record is that of a conservative. That is true on its face. But not true if you look at recent history.

When I first came in contact with Senator McCain, he was running for Congress for the first time. His story was compelling and he seemed like someone I could trust. As a Congressman, he stood for conservative ideals all of the time. His voting record was one of, if not the, most conservative in the House of Representatives. When He ran for Senate, I supported him completely. He did not betray my trust those first few years. Then he got bit by the Presidential bug.

When the Presidential bug bit him, he decided he needed to become more liberal. He did not want to just be more liberal, that would destroy his chances with the Republicans. So, he decided to become a "maverick". A maverick is someone that takes controversial positions on some issues. Senator McCain did just that. Unfortunately for the country, he picked the wrong issues to become more liberal in. One was judges.

For over 200 years the standard for approving a judge in the Senate was a simple majority. When Harry Reid became minority leader, he changed that to 60% or 60 votes. When Republicans decided to fix the issue and decide it Constitutinally, Senator McCain decided to step in. He formed the gang of 14. The gang of 14 did approve some controversial judges that should have been approved. But it left on the table the 60 vote margin needed to approve any judge. As a result, many judges have remained unapproved to this day.

Another example is on the issue of gaining information from prisoners. Senator McCain led the charge to disarm our interrogators when gaining information from prisoners. In the process, he made the US look stupid in front of the whole world. The entire time the issue was not torture, it was Senator McCain needing to look like he was important.

Senator McCain has become an unreliable conservative vote. He votes conservative most of the time. But, just when you have to have his vote, he turns tail and runs. You cannot count on Senator McCain in the Senate. If you cannot count on him when the chips are down in the Senate, how can you count on him when the chips are down if he were President. You have to have a reliable person as President of the United States. Senator McCain is unreliable. I know of what I speak. I live in Arizona. I met him running for the house. I have watched his career for over 25 years. Senator McCain has the Republican leadership in the state. He does not have the Republican voters in the state. He will find that out when the Republican primary comes around.

Spring Break

This week is spring break for my college and all Arizona colleges. It gives me a week off to get  things done and rest up.

Students take this week to have a big party. There are news reports of what resorts are like in Mexico and other places with water. It sounds like one big orgy. The students I teach generally do not participate in that kind of activity. My students tend to be older students coming back to school and poorer students. Those are not the types that go and celebrate youth at spring break resorts.

As an instructor, I use spring break to rest up. I get to sleep in and generally act like a regular person. I also get to get some work done around the house. Except for this year, my middle daughter is pregnant. She spent Sunday night to Monday night in the Hospital trying to have a baby. So I spent time running to the hospital to bring meals to my wife, who is helping her, or answering the phone from all her siblings wanting to know if she had the baby yet. The day was also spent entertaining my granddaughter all by myself. My wife and I normally tag team the entertaining and both get things done. Today, I had her all to myself. She is a lot of fun, but an 8 year old can demand a lot of attention. We also had to go on her walk. She demands to go on a walk every day. It is good for me, but it does take time.

The rest of this week is liable to be just as hectic. We get a dumpster on Tuesday and have to fill it before Friday. Filling it is not the problem, moving all the stuff from where it is to the dumpster is the problem. As a result, until school starts next Monday, I will probably not write posts on a regular basis.

Democrat "First's"

In this election season, the Democrats are patting themselves on the back because they have the first Black and the first Woman to seriously contend for the Presidency. It seems like all of the Democrat candidates this year is a "First" at something. It is usually a "First" at something they are not. Bill Clinton was touted as the "First" Black President. Bill Clinton is whiter than me and my ancestors came from northern Europe.

The first woman elected President will be a Republican. The first Black elected President will be a Republican. The first Hispanic elected President will be a Republican. The first Asian to be elected President will be a Republican. I hope you get the pattern. Why are all of them Republicans? It is because Republicans have credibility. Democrats have the reputation, well deserved, of being radical leftists. This is particularly true of the "ethnic" members of the Democrat party. Having the "ethnic" person a Republican gives them some credibility.

If Condeleeza Rice ran for President, she would be elected in a landslide. She is currently not running. Vice-President Cheney is having some problems with blood clots in his legs. If this is serious enough, he may resign. If he resigns, I will bet the first person George W. Bush calls on will be Condeleeza Rice. That would seriously change the dynamic of the Republican primaries. Condi would have to be considered the front runner for President. She would sweep to victory with margins so wide, that there would be real fear in the Democrat party.

I do not expect Vice-President Cheney to step down. He is committed to serving his country. He will faithfully serve as Vice-President as long as he is able to do so. As a result, any talk of who will replace him would be pure speculation. But it does make some interesting thoughts to consider what might be, no matter how unlikely. Unlikelier things have happened in the past.

Democrats - Party of Surrender

The Democrat party is trying hard to align itself with surrender. They have been working at it for over 150 years. They are pretty good at surrendering, almost as good as the French. The biggest problem the Democrat party has with surrender is that Republicans keep getting people to salute the flag and do their duty. That makes Democrats mad.

The Democrat party believes that if we are nice to other countries, the other countries will be nice to us. As a result of this belief, the military is unnecessary. Having a military prevents people from believing our good intentions. That is why the military is overwhelmingly Republican in its makeup. The Democrat party compromises that we must have a military, but we cannot use it where we have an interest. We can only use it for humanitarian interests that have nothing to do with the US.

Their latest plan, if you can call it a plan, is to have all the troops out of Iraq by the end of 2008. That way the war can be the fault of George Bush. If it goes on longer than that, the next President could have to deal with it and it would be their problem. They believe that the next President will be a Democrat and to have the war pinned on a Democrat would be just awful.

Some in the Democrat party want us out of Iraq yesterday. They are upset that the plan waits for a year and a half. The Republicans have been mum on this issue, but should easily garner more votes when it comes time. I do not believe that most of the country believes as the Democrat party leadership does that we should cut and run. Surrender is not an option for most Americans. In the movie Patton, the opening monologue has him say that Americans will never accept defeat. I believe that to be true. Americans play to win. We fight to win. We do not fight to lose. We will never accept defeat. Those who are our leaders in a time of defeat will feel the wrath of the electorate for a generation. The Democrats are trying to see if they can make the Republicans into the party of defeat by having them be in charge when we are defeated in Iraq. I can say that George Bush will never accept defeat from the hands of a Democrat or an Islamo-Fascist during his term of office.

Hurray for the Brits

There is a new movie out debunking the lies in  "Inconvenient Truth". It was produced in Britain and includes scientists from the US and Great Britain that give the whole truth about the climate and any change. They were careful to get actual experts that know what they were talking about.

This movie debunks Al Gore's ridiculous attempt at science. Al Gore uses many half truths in his movie. He takes the half truths and uses them as full truths and then expands that into a disaster waiting to happen. This is all designed to get the audience to think that there is something bad coming quickly and they better do something now.

The new movie points out that the rise in the Earth's temperature is also mirrored in the rise in the temperature of Mars. These are both rising because of a rise in the temperature of the Sun. They also point out that this is a natural cycle and we have little to no influence over the pattern.

It is interesting to see that this movie is coming out of Britain. They usually buy into this global warming stuff before we do here in the US. This time they are ahead of us on knowing about science.

There was an article in today's Arizona Republic about Al Gore's disaster movie. It gives it credence as a scientific study. Obviously the author of the article is not a scientist. Any scientist that looks at Al Gore's movie with critical eyes can see the holes in his arguments. But that is not the point. The movie is not about the science. It is about the politics and religion.

Global warming is the only "scientific" idea that has to have people agree that it exists. Other scientific principles do not have that problem. They either are or are not. Global warming on the other hand has to have a vote of different people to see if it has any validity. The "votes" are usually rigged to make sure that global warming is caused by man. The studies are written after they get scientists to sign on to the ideas, then they politicize the study.

Global warming is a religion. People either believe or do not believe. The science is not important. The people pushing global warming usually have a political agenda they are selling. The political agenda is usually socialist at best or communist at worst. Either way, the plan is for everyone to bow down to an all-powerful government. The people pushing the global warming would be exempt from the regulations that are put forth by the government. The rest of us would have to follow the regulations put forth by this government. When you boil it all down, the goal of this government is to make everyone miserable. The government takes away all private property and an ability to travel. Then you are told what to do and when.

The idea sounds just awful to me and something to avoid. Unfortunately, the people selling the global warming junk make it sound good. They will take care of everyone and get rid of the awful global warming. People do not think of the consequences of their actions if they give power to these groups. I cannot believe that people would vote these people into power. But, I could not believe that people could vote for a Democrat either. So, people can be deceived. We need to wake up the population to what is going on. Unfortunately, there are only a few of us and we are scattered.

Travesty of Justice

The Scooter Libby trial is over and he was found guilty of not remembering what he said to whom. He was not charged with not remembering a crime, he was charged with not remembering what he said to whom in an investigation of a non-crime. To have actually charged him was the height of arrogance for the prosecutor. For the jury to have found him guilty was a travesty of justice of the first order.

There has to be a way to stop prosecutors from overstepping their legal authority. Once the prosecutor found that there was no crime, he should have stopped all the investigations and closed the office. He felt he had to charge someone with something, so he continued.

The jury as late as three hours before the verdict sent a note to the judge asking for a clarification on what the actual charge was. That speaks of confusion in the jury room. It also speaks of the real possibility that the jury was going to find Scooter Libby not guilty. You don't ask for a clarification of the charge 10 days into a jury deliberation unless there is some confusion in the jury room.

The conviction will undoubtedly be appealed to a higher court. The judge made several glaring errors that I as a non-attorney can identify. The most glaring is that the defense was not able to point out to the jury that there was no crime committed in the entire affair. That would most likely have influenced the jury to vote for a not guilty verdict. That is why the judge and the prosecutor did not want the information to be placed in front of the jury. That would be suppression of evidence.

The judge made other rulings that handcuffed the defense and made it almost impossible for them to conduct an adequate defense. It looked to me, an almost disinterested observer, that the judge and prosecutor were in cahoots. The prosecutor got everything he wanted. The defense got almost nothing that it wanted. It just sounded kind of fishy with the sketchy information that I was able to glean from my sources.

What does this mean? The dinosaur media gets to crow how they defeated one of the most powerful people in the Bush administration. They have their victory and will crow about it for a couple of weeks. After the appeals are over, the case will be forgotten. I believe that Scooter Libby will be found not guilty on appeal. He was found guilty of a non-crime. That should not give him any problems what so ever. We shall see what shall happen.

Ann Coulter

At the CPAC conference, Ann Coulter beat around the bush and indirectly called John Edwards a "faggot". In today's society of political correctness, it is a word not to be used. I always thought it meant cigarette. In England, "faggot" means cigarette. I do not think it appropriate to call someone a cigarette.

Ann Coulter has a reputation as a bomb thrower. She likes to play that part in the political arena. Most of the time, her bomb throwing is harmless. Also, most of the time, her bomb throwing is funny. In this case, her attempt at bomb throwing was in bad taste. She should have taken into consideration where she was and who was following her on the podium.

I do have a low opinion of John Edwards. He is one of the reasons our health insurance costs have risen so much over the past 20 years. He practiced law by taking cases of birth defects. He would claim the birth defects were the fault of the doctor. He would get large settlements in these cases. In almost all of his cases, the birth defects were genetic. They  were not caused by the doctor. It was just cheaper to settle the case out of court than try it in court and lose.

As a result of John Edwards and other lawyers on the left like them, our insurance costs have risen steeply over the past 20 years. If he had to prove the truth, our insurance costs would be much lower. Also, the doctors would perform fewer cesarian births. They perform more now because there is less chance of an error with a cesarian birth. It is just much harder on the mother. But, John Edwards does not care about the mother.

CPAC Straw Poll

At the CPAC convention of conservatives, Mitt Romney won the straw poll. Rudy Giuliani came in second place. Mitt had 21%. Rudy had 17%. That is good news for Mitt Romney and his campaign. John McCain came in way back in the pack. That may spell doom for his campaign.

Mitt Romney showed that he has the support of conservatives. That is important in a Republican primary. He can take this straw poll victory and build upon it down the line. He may start polling better in the opinion polls after this important victory. He needed to win this poll in order to stay viable. Rudy Giuliani needed to do well to show that he could get conservative votes. Both came out of this straw poll looking very good.

The big loser was John McCain. He will have a difficult time getting his campaign off the ground at this juncture. He has the support of the liberal wing of the party. Unfortunately for him, the liberal wing is very small in number. The conservative wing of the party is the one where the majority of the primary voters happen to be.

I happen to think it is good for the country that John McCain's campaign will be in trouble. He has been a good Senator, at least in the early years. Lately, he has been all over the map. I would not have voted for him in his last election, except the Democrat party put up an empty suit. John McCain no matter how bad, was better than the Democrat. I did not vote for John McCain in the primary in that election. Almost any conservative would be better than John McCain.

I hope that Mitt Romney uses this straw poll victory and starts making moves in the important early states. He needs to do well. I believe he is the best option for 2008.

Al Gore, Cont.

Since I last wrote about Al Gore, I learned that he owns the company that is selling the offsets for using too much Carbon. That means that Al Gore is buying Carbon credits from a company that then buys land and earns an income. He gets a percentage of that income as income. Therefore, he is not buying anything. He is just giving money to himself. That is a complete fraud.

It is typical of a liberal. Liberals don't believe that they have to live by the rules they set up for the rest of us. To show again how Al Gore does not follow the rules set for everybody, he went around the airport security recently. His spokesman said that going around the security set-up was a mistake. Unless everyone in the party was born yesterday, they would have known that they had to go through airport security screenings like everybody else. We are afraid that some old grandmother might be a terrorist, so we make them take off their shoes and get x-rayed. Al Gore must do the same as everyone else.

What gets me about all this is that the liberal media thinks this is just fine. It is the conservative media that says that everyone should play by the same rules. Only the liberals think they are better than everyone else. Unfortunately for most liberals, when liberals get in power they will find out that they are just like everyone else. The liberal elites they voted into office will continue their ignoring the rules. They will just make all the regular liberals live by the rules that they set up for everyone else. But, then it will be too late.

Somehow, I do not think that scenario will happen. This country tends to be conservative. It has tended conservative since it was founded over 200 years ago. There have been periods of liberalism in the leadership, but overall it has been conservative. That is good in my book. It gives me comfort that the country will probably be ok because of the general conservative bent in the electorate.

The problem is the liberal bias in the media. They are not following the guidelines set out in the Constitution. They were given a trust in the Constitution. They have taken that trust and abused it. We need to take the media back from the liberals that have taken over. The problem is that I don't know how.

Al Gore's Big Foot

Since I have discussed global warming in this site and found the subject to be less than scientific, it is interesting to note that the biggest supporter of global warming does not walk the walk. Al Gore talks about how each of us must sacrifice to stop global warming. Basically each of us must live as our ancestors did around 1776.

Al Gore then goes home to his mansion in Tennessee. I have no problem with mansions. I would love to own a mansion. Or rather, I would like to have the money to own a mansion. But, Al Gore's mansion uses 20 times more energy than the average home. Mansions take a lot of energy to run, but this sounds excessive. It does not take into account the private jets that he flies and the limo rides wherever he goes. His guest house on his property uses about twice as much energy as the average home. He justifies this by buying green offsets. He buys forest land to compensate for the enormous energy outlay on his property.

Al Gore wants all of us to sacrifice and go back to living like our ancestors did over 200 years ago. He is not willing to make any sacrifices at all. That is so typical of the left. You make sacrifices. I will keep doing what I want to do. They do this with laws. We have to obey them. They are exempt from obeying that law. They believe in free speech for them. But, if I say something they do not like, they protest that it is offensive.

I really have no problem with Al Gore living any way that he wants to live. Al Gore is rich and rich people are entitled to live in big houses and have big utility bills.  I just have a problem with him telling me that I have to make great sacrifices in the way that I live my life and then he lives his how he wants to. That is hypocrisy. I have little patience with a hypocrite.

President Bush on the other hand is vilified by the left as uncaring about the environment. But, when you look at his Crawford ranch, you discover that his house is very environmentally friendly. He has almost no energy footprint. Almost all of the water used on the ranch is recycled and gathered from rain that falls. It is the picture of exactly what Al Gore would like all of us to be living like. President Bush gets no credit for living like that at all.

The reason Al Gore gets praise for his position, even though a hypocrite, is that he is a liberal. President Bush gets no credit for his position and home, because he is a conservative. It matters not what you do, it matters what you say. Liberals can say or do anything and be praised. Conservatives can say or do anything and get condemnation. That is the way of the news media today.

I would truly like to see a news organization that did not slant the news. Fox News comes the closest to that position. They try not to slant each report. The problem is in what they report. Their reports are on the same topics that the other broadcast news organizations use. A truly non-biased news organization would not only make each topic non-biased, but select topics in a non-biased way. I realize that is impossible. Everyone has their own bias and that will influence their decisions. It would just be nice to have someone not give the liberal position in a news report for a change.

McCain on the Ropes?

Dick Morris has reported twice this week that John McCain's campaign is in trouble. He refuses to go to the new media to court voters. He wants to stay with the media elite. He is top heavy with advisors. His campaign contributions have all but dried up. He seems to be showing his age when confronted with controversial issues on the news shows.

As an Arizonan, I am glad that he is not doing well. John McCain has been good and bad over the years. When things are going well, he will sometimes jump ship just to see his name in lights as a maverick. When the chips are down, you cannot count on John McCain to do the right thing. He is always trying to work out some compromise where the conservatives give up everything and the liberals give up nothing.

An example of this behavior is when the judges needed to be confirmed, he formed his gang of 14. The gang of 14 made sure that judges had to have the 60 vote level to be confirmed instead of the Constitutionally mandated 51 votes. He did get some controversial judges confirmed easily, but they would have been confirmed any way. He stopped the Senate from ruling that judges had to have the 51 vote level to be confirmed. As a result, we have a backlog of judges waiting to be confirmed that would easily get over 51 votes. They just cannot get to 60 votes because of Democrat stupidity.

That kind of activity when the chips are down makes him unreliable. When the chips are down and the country is in danger, can we count on him to make the right choice? I am not so sure. I have voted for John McCain many times. At first, because he was exactly what a Republican should be. But lately, because he was better than the alternative Democrat. Of course my dog would have been better than any of the Democrat Senate candidates in the last 20 years. At least my dog is loyal. You cannot say that for many Democrat candidates these days.

Since John McCain is showing signs of failing, there are two candidates left. Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney. Rudy Giuliani is the unquestioned leader when it comes to the war on Islamo-Fascism. Mitt Romney is the unquestioned leader when talking about social issues. Mitt Romney would be strong on national defense. He just has not had a chance to show it yet. Rudy Giuliani says he would appoint judges that will follow the law, not write it. I know Mitt Romney will do that.

If I voted strictly on national defense, Rudy Giuliani would win. But you cannot vote strictly on national defense. National defense is very important, probably THE most important issue. But, judges are the second most important issue and I am not sure I can trust Rudy Giuliani on that issue. Why would he appoint judges that did not believe as he did? That does not make sense. In my opinion, he would be tempted to pick a judge that agreed with him on the issues over one that did not agree with him. That would put another activist judge on the Supreme Court or other Federal court. That would be a disaster. I am sure that Mitt Romney will select people that will follow the Constitution. He needs to persuade people that he is strong on national defense. But that will come in time. As I see it, a conservative has to vote for Mitt Romney over Rudy Giuliani. Mitt Romney will be a safer alternative when looking at the entire candidate. I am sure that Mitt is honest, true, chaste, benevolent, and does good to all men. Mitt Romney almost looks too good to be true.

Vice-President Cheney

Vice-President  Cheney has been traveling around the world visiting world leaders and telling them the US is committed to fighting the Islamo-Fascists wherever they are found. His stop last night was Afghanistan. The Taliban got wind of his being in town and tried to blow him up with a suicide bomber. They failed as the bomber blew himself up outside of the base. The blast did kill up to 23 people.

That the attack failed was great. Vice-President Cheney has been strong recently in calling the Democrat plan to surrender exactly what Al Qaeda wants. Speaker Pelosi went ballistic and claimed that he questioned her patriotism. He did no such thing. He questioned her judgement. If we pull out of Iraq, we are giving Al Qaeda a victory. That is what Al Qaeda wants. A victory would give them tremendous prestige and allow them to recruit many followers. It would be a great disaster for the US. Anybody with a single brain cell can see that.

Since Vice-President Cheney said that polls have come out supporting the idea of victory in Iraq. The Democrat plan to surrender is now being placed on the back burner. That is great for the country that they are retreating. Unfortunately, it gives their candidates for President a chance to change their message to sound like they support victory, when they don't.

After the news of the attempt of Vice-President Cheney's life, the left wing blogosphere went into hyperdrive. They were upset that the Taliban missed. They were wishing them better luck next time. They were wondering what the world would be like without Vice-President Cheney. This is just sick. He is the Vice-President of the United States. He deserves to live out his term of office. When Slick Willy and his side kick Algore were in office, nobody wanted them dead. We wanted them out of office, but not dead. There is a major difference. We were disagreeing with their policies. The left wing is not disagreeing with policies. They have a much more menacing agenda that I am still trying to work out.

How in the world did the left ever get the reputation of being more compassionate? They are the most vindictive, vengeful people that I have ever come in contact with. Democrats have no compassion. They say they do. But in reality, they have no compassion for the people they say they care about. They only want to get and grow the power they feel that they deserve. That thought is scary!

Patton Needed

Last night, I watched Patton again. He was single-minded in his pursuit of killing the enemy. He also insisted that his soldiers behaved like soldiers and dressed like soldiers.

Patton was an interesting person. He was an OIympic participant as a pistol marksman. He started in the Army as a Cavalry Lieutenant. He read from the Bible every day and used profanity liberally. He believed in reincarnation and that he had participated in all of the major wars throughout history. He acted like a sixteenth century warrior in the twentieth century. He was a brilliant planner. He knew where and how to defeat the enemy.

He studied history and knew the battle plans of all of the Generals who had books written about or by them. He read the books written by the German Generals, particularly his main rival, Erwin Rommel. He wrote poetry. He was also a romantic at heart when it came to warfare.

His mouth was his biggest problem. He knew what to do and was not afraid to tell anybody what he thought. He also was apolitical. Put him in a battle situation and there was none better. Put him in a diplomatic situation and there were few worse. He could have done so much more if he could have kept control of his mouth. Unfortunately for him, he could not control what he said.

He believed that a soldier's duty was to carry out his mission. He did not agree in the diagnosis of battle fatigue. As a result, he insisted that all battle fatigue and self inflicted wounds be removed from hospitals. Hospitals were to be reserved for those that did their duty and were injured as a result. A famous incident occurred where he discovered a hospital with a battle fatigue case. The soldier did not respond to his command to get up and go back to his unit. He lost control and struck the soldier several times about the helmet and threatened to shoot the soldier. As a result of that incident he had to apologize to the entire unit. It was very degrading to him and he was placed on leave for awhile. During that leave time, he was used as a decoy because the Germans believed that Patton would lead the invasion. Wherever Patton was the invasion would come from there.

Today, we need a General like Patton. I do not mean the profane General that was uncaring for soldiers who had battle fatigue. I mean the take charge General that would not let any obstacle get in his way to achieve victory. The movie showed many times where normal methods caused things to stall. Patton came along and used unconventional means to get things done. So far, in the war on Islamo-Fascism, I have not seen that kind of dedication. When an obstacle is placed in the way, everything stops until the obstacle can be moved conventionally. We need Generals who are willing and able to think outside of the normal when fighting in this war. We may have one in General Petraeus, time will tell.

Political Interest

Why don't people get interested in politics between elections? The question mystifies me. I have a constant interest in politics and who is running for what office that will be important to me. When I try to talk to my wife about politics between election periods, she shows no interest whatsoever.

I have always known who was President, Vice-President, both Senators, Representative, Governor, State Senator, and State Representatives. My wife does not care who is in any of the positions until it is time to select the next one. And, even then, she only gets interested a few days before she casts her vote. I must say, she does do her homework in the end. She just does not study all of the time like me.

I must say the difference between my wife and I is mystifying to me. I cannot understand how someone cannot be interested all of the time. The information is so important that it is important to know what is going on all of the time. My wife says that there is nothing she can do about it, so why pay any attention. When I tell her that we can influence different issues, she says that is my job.

I guess that there are those that pay attention all of the time and those that do not. Those of us that do pay attention all of the time will weed out the riff-raff and let the others choose who will ultimately lead us. There are far more of the uninterested than the interested during most of the year. We discuss issues and topics and help weed out the candidates that cannot handle the heat. Already one Democrat candidate has dropped out. That shows how the system works. When the uninterested take a look, it will be two or three per party. Then when they pay attention again it will be one from each party.

I guess if everyone paid attention all of the time, the world would be pretty boring. Right now it is a pretty exciting world. Lots of things are happening and everyone has a place to play in the world. It does get frustrating when apathy seems to rule the roost.
