Our illustrious Vice-President put his foot into his mouth again yesterday. He said that we are not at war with the Taliban. We started fighting the Taliban in 2001 and have been fighting them ever since. If we are not at war with the Taliban, why are we over there shooting at them?

The Taliban sheltered and encouraged Al Qaeda for many years prior to 9/11/2001. They oppressed their people, particularly women. There is nothing good I can say about the Taliban. They were evil in 2001. They are still evil today. We may not recognize that evil as much today, because they have not been in power since early 2002. But that does not diminish the evil that they did and would still do.

One thing Democrats have a problem with is identifying who the enemy is. Our Fearless Leader goes around the world and treats those that are our allies like they are enemies. He treats those who have an expressed desire to see us destroyed as friends. People captured on the battlefield are to be treated as if they were US citizens captured after the commission of a crime. American citizens that disagree with the administration are vilified as potential terrorists. If you listen to Democrats, particularly those in Washington, you would never know that we have any enemies in the world.

We do have enemies. They have come out and stated what their goals are. They constantly talk about how they want to destroy Israel and the United States. To those who listen, the signs are clear who our enemies are. Radical Islam is the primary culprit at self-identifying as enemies. I am not condemning all of Islam. Most Muslims are peaceful and just want what most people want. That is to be left alone and allowed to live their lives without government interference. But, radical Muslims are out to control the world.

How many Radical Muslims are there? Estimates vary, but the most common estimate is that about 10% of all Muslims are radical Muslims. Since there are about 1.2 billion Muslims on the planet, that would mean there about 120 million Radical Muslims. That is a huge figure. Of course, those radical Muslims are scattered throughout the world. Go to any country and you will find Radical Muslims. That is why we are not at war with any particular country. We are at war with a group of people that are self-identifying. Some deny that they are radical Muslims like CAIR here in the US, but a little checking of who they support will tell you where their true allegiance lies.

One problem with radical Muslims is that a person can be a peaceful Muslim today and become a radical Muslim next week. The Ft. Hood shooter was that kind of radical. When he joined the military, he was a normal, peace loving Muslim. He became radicalized during his time in the military. That resulted in the deaths of about 15 people. The people, who reviewed Major Nadal Hassan’s records identified that there was a problem, yet did nothing. They did not act because they were afraid of being called a racist. Political Correctness is also killing us. That is another invention of the left.

Michael Savage had it right when he said that liberalism is a Mental Disorder. Other people have come to the same conclusion. Thomas Sowell says today that liberalism makes people do things that are harmful to society in the name of helping society. To be a liberal requires that people suspend logic. Logic and liberalism cannot coexist in the same location at the same time. Once people start thinking logically, they cease to be liberals because liberalism is entirely feeling based. Conservatism is based on logic. That is why most conservatives use logic to defend positions. Liberals use feelings to describe their positions. The two arguments are incompatible. That is why liberals and conservatives tend to not communicate, even though they may use the same words.

Some good news over the weekend, Kim Jong Il died in North Korea. He was the ruler of North Korea and changed the country from just a communist country into a militarily empowered communist state. He ruled by an iron hand and is probably best known for starving his people in order to insure that there were no uprisings against him. Kim Jung Il took over from his father, who was really bad. Everyone was glad to see Kim Jung Il’s father die. They were disappointed when Kim Jung Il was worse than his father ever thought to be. Kim Jung Il will be succeeded by his son, Kim Jong Un. We don’t know much about Kim Jung Un, except that as the heir apparent he was appointed to a number of high level posts in recent years.

North Korea is a real basket case of a country. The military is supposed to be up to date. They do have nuclear weapons and missiles. The missiles have the capability to reach at least as far as Hawaii. But, most of the country lives in the most grinding poverty imaginable. Famine stalks the land most of the time. But, if you want to rule the way Kim Jong Il wanted to rule, the best way is to starve the people. People that are wondering if they will eat again are less likely to revolt than people with a full stomach. People with a full stomach will have time to think about how terrible their fate really is.

If you look around the world and identify the spots where poverty and famine are rampant, I will show you the same spots also have totalitarian rulers. The rulers are not all communist, but all despots share the same characteristics. In order to keep your people submissive you starve them and teach the children that the despot is some sort of God or God substitute.

There is no reason North Korea should have grinding poverty and famine. The soils are fertile enough to feed the public. The agricultural community was able to feed the Korean people for thousands of years with little or no problem. The communists take over and suddenly there is grinding poverty and famine. The Koreans that live in the south have all the food they need. There is little difference between the soils in the north and south. The difference is the north is communist and the south is democratic.

Koreans that live in South Korea have one of the highest standards of living in the world. But across the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), you have one of the poorest countries in the world. The difference has to be the way each country operates. South Korea has free elections and a capitalist economic system. North Korea has rigged elections and a socialist/communist economic system.

Changes will happen in North Korea after the death of Kim Jung Il. They have to. Kim Jung Un is not the same person as his father. Over time, the changes will become apparent. In the short term, there will be no changes. It will take time for Kim Jung Un to consolidate power and get everyone on board that he is the new ruler in North Korea. Once that happens, the changes will begin to become apparent. I wouldn’t even want to speculate since I have almost no information on Kim Jung Un. I am not even sure of his age. The article I read said that he was in his early 20’s. He will be around for a long time. Unless he is overthrown in the next week or so, Kim Jung Un will be a thorn in the side of the world for many decades.

Yesterday the Department of Justice put out a report on Joe Arpaio and the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department. They took three years to investigate the department. After a three year investigation, they had to come up with something.

The report says that during the Sheriff’s Office sweeps for illegals, they use racial profiling. The person writing the report said the racial profiling was the worse he had seen. The Department of Justice has given the Sheriff’s Office three months to address the problems.

First, let me say that anything that comes out of Eric Holder’s Department of Justice is suspect. They could not find voter harassment when it was caught on video. The Bush Justice Department had successfully prosecuted that case up until the election. After the election, the case got dismissed. For this Justice Department to say that anyone else has problems is laughable.

Second, the sweeps for illegals are going to necessarily find people of Mexican and South American descent in large numbers. We are close to the Mexican border. Most people crossing the Mexican border illegally are from Mexico or a country further south. They generally speak Spanish and have trouble with English. There are certain characteristics that they have in common. If you look for those characteristics you will have greater success than the random actions like the TSA uses. So, yes there was racial profiling going on during the sweeps. Did some of the officers go over the line a time or two? Probably, but no department of any size has all officers who are clean as the wind driven snow. There are always some bad apples in every group of any size. Were mistakes made? Undoubtedly, mistakes are made by humans all the time. It is the nature of humans to make mistakes.

A comment made by Jim Sharp of Sharp in the Morning on KFYI struck me as profound as I got out of my car this morning. He said, “If the problems were really that bad, they would most likely have filed a lawsuit right away. They filed a lawsuit against Arizona for much less than this.” That is true. I am sure they found some problems. But the problems were such that they can be corrected with some minimal action by the Sheriff.

The predictable groups are calling for Sheriff Joe to resign as Sheriff. But, they say that almost every day over nothing. They would have said that he should resign if the report had said that the Sheriff’s Department had made no errors. The predictable groups are all progressive Democrat groups. They are not representative of the general public. They are representative of the Democrat Party from Washington, not Arizona.

Sheriff Joe said that he will continue to act as a Sheriff should in Arizona. He accused the Obama administration of wanting to hang a pink sign on the border welcoming all illegals and saying that this is your country. That pretty much sums up the Obama immigration policy in just a few words. Leave it to Sheriff Joe to summarize Obama’s entire immigration policy in one sentence.

Sheriff Joe will have to jump through some hoops to satisfy the Department of Justice or he will be unable to do his job. So, he will probably send Deputies to some lame training program to satisfy the Department of Justice and retain his ability to fight crime. That is a shame because it is an entire waste of taxpayer money just to be politically correct. These classes will most likely be taught by the progressive far left groups that want Sheriff Joe removed from office.

Soon, age will do what Democrats have wanted to do since Sheriff Joe was elected Sheriff. Sheriff Joe is, I believe, at least 70 years old. He will probably only run one more time before he will need to retire. That will be a huge loss for Arizona and the country. I hope whoever follows Sheriff Joe is at least half as good.

Over the past couple of weeks, I have been talking to my friends at my college about the second set of emails from East Anglia University in England. Prior to those emails coming out almost every single one was a believer in man caused global warming. Now, because of these emails, their certainty is starting to crack. The ones that are trying to be honest scientists are starting to see the light and are questioning the man caused part of global warming. Those who are just political people acting as if they were scientists still hold fast to the myth that is man caused global warming.

This is a start. Now, my college is probably as liberal as any other in a Red State. But, because we are in a Red State, we have more influences on us that cause us to question the liberal orthodoxy. That makes breaking down the certainty at my college easier than at another like, UC Berkeley.

While they are starting to question the man caused global warming orthodoxy, their old habits arise when they talk to the true believers who disregard the evidence. That was evident at a meeting yesterday where our one true believer convinced all the rest to follow along and offer a class that is based on the idea that man is causing global warming. The class may never fly, but just agreeing to offer it is a black mark on our ability to evaluate science.

For those who do not remember, the first group of emails pointed to wide-spread fraud in the global warming community. It also showed that the people who were wavering were being taught how to falsify their data to conform to what was expected. The second set of emails confirmed what the first set had said. It also indicated that the two leaders of the global warming community, Phil Jones of East Anglia University and Michael Mann of Penn State University, did not believe in global warming. They were pushing the global warming agenda for political reasons, not scientific ones. The second set of emails also highlighted the fact that some scientists had a problem with falsifying data, but went along because they did not want to offend their friends.

I had an article that summarized the emails and made editorialized comments about the fraud that was being committed by the global warming community. I gave that to one of my closest friends who is sitting on the fence. He said he tends to believe that man is causing global warming because of all the scientific evidence he has seen. I said if I could show that it was false would that change your mind? He agreed and I gave him my copy of the article. The problem is I do not remember the author or when it was even printed. That makes it difficult for me to find the article again and get another copy of it.

But it is good news that there is now some skepticism about global warming among the faculty on my campus. There was little questioning of global warming prior to the emails coming out. That these liberal faculty members are now questioning global warming shows that there is hope in changing people’s minds. They are still all liberals. They will still vote to re-elect Barack Obama. I have not made that much progress, but any chink in the armor gives you a chance to make further breaches. Those further breaches can mean wholesale changes in the long run. That will take time, but at least we have a first step, no matter how small.

On the way to work, I was listening to Sharp in the morning on KFYI. He had the results of a poll that was eye opening. The main result was that 54% of Americans do not think that Barack Obama deserves a second term. This close to the election for that number to be that high is terrible news for Obama and company. The election will be in 10 ½ months. That is not a lot of time to turn at least 5% of the public into believing you deserve a second term.

One other result from that poll, that I remember, is also telling. It said that 33% of the public approve of Obama’s handling of the economy. Over 60% said that they did not approve of Obama’s handling of the economy. That, again is a number that will be very difficult to turn around in 10 ½ months.

Obama has only one signature success that he can point to. The problem is that over 50% of the public wants Obamacare repealed. Also, if the Supreme Court actually looks at the law, Obamacare will be declared unconstitutional next spring. That means that Obama has no accomplishments on which to run for a second term.

Since Obama is unpopular and has no accomplishments on which to run, how does he hope to win a second term? His only strategy has to be to make the Republican candidate look like the second coming of Satan. That is his only hope for victory. He cannot point to any accomplishment. His economic policies are wildly unpopular. He just made the United States a laughing stock in the world by politely asking for our drone back from the Iranians. What other option does he have? He cannot point to anything that Americans would support that could give him some traction. His only hope is to destroy the Republican candidate and hope there is a third party candidate to split the vote. The reason is that making the Republican seem like the second coming of Satan just might not work. Obama can’t blame George W. Bush for anything after four years in office, so that strategy is out the window. He keeps trying to use it, but it is becoming less effective every time he tries it.

All the Republicans have to do win is to nominate someone who is reasonable and can make the case that Obama has been a disaster. The second part of the equation will be easy. Just hire Mitt Romney’s ad people and that will be taken care of in a flash. The first part is a bit more problematic.

Republicans have to nominate someone who is not a Progressive. That eliminates Newt Gingrich. Newt stepped in that one when he said FDR was a good President. He also said one of his favorite Presidents was Woodrow Wilson. Those are two of the worst Presidents of the 20^th century. The only ones worse were Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. Clinton was bad because of personal corruption and Carter because of incompetence.

With Newt out of the picture who does that leave? My favorite is Michele Bachmann. She is articulate and honest. She has principles and sticks to them. She has not participated in the corruption that is Congress. She is not perfect, but nobody is. Give her a strong Vice-Presidential candidate and the ticket would be unbeatable. My vote for VP goes to Allen West of Florida. Bachmann/West would be unbeatable. It would be a no-nonsense campaign that would win the hearts of Americans everywhere.

Yesterday I wrote about the options that Barack Obama had to retrieve or destroy the drone that went down in Iran. Now, he came up with a new wrinkle that is probably the lowest point ever achieved by a US President. That even beats President Kennedy’s Bay of Pigs invasion. Barack Obama respectfully asked politely for our drone back from the Iranians.

In the Middle East, particularly in Muslim countries, strength is recognized. Weakness is scorned. To ask, respectfully, for our drone back is the height of weakness. To a leader in this part of the world, it highlights the weakness of America. We will have more problems with these countries because of this action than any other Barack Obama could have taken.

I knew leaving the drone to be found by the Iranians was a bad idea. I was just thinking of the transfer of technology that would take place if the Iranians ever found the drone. I was also thinking of the fact that it gives Iran and others who hate us the ability to jam and thwart the technology we use to monitor their activities. The thought that Barack Obama would politely ask for our drone back never crossed my mind. When I heard that was his response to Iran getting our drone, I was flabbergasted. I knew Obama was incompetent, but this takes the cake.

We hear all the time at how smart Barack Obama is. I would venture a new thought on the matter. Barack Obama was an affirmative action student all the way through school. Affirmative action students are those who are not qualified to be in the school they attend. They are allowed in so that the school can tout that it has this percentage of a certain minority. The school anticipates that the student will fail at some time during his/her tenure at the University. That is the nature of the program. They were not qualified and so will undoubtedly fail at some time or other.

Barack Obama did not fail, primarily because everybody that attends Harvard gets an ‘A’ just for attending class. If you get the teacher mad, you might get a lower grade, but that is the exception rather than the rule. So, since all grades were irrelevant, Barack Obama passed Harvard and graduated.

Barack Obama was given a high honor by being elected to edit the Harvard Law Review. Editors of the Harvard Law Review are usually the most prolific writers for the publication. Their articles are numbered in the hundreds. Barack Obama did not write a single article for publication. The question here is: why? I contend that his articles were so poorly written that they could not print them for fear of ridicule.

Barack Obama supposedly wrote two books. The books were obviously written by two different authors according to Jack Cashill a writing expert who has studied Obama’s writings. Cashill contends that Bill Ayers wrote Obama’s first book and that the second is primarily a collection of talks written by speech writers.

I contend that Barack Obama got where he is because of Affirmative Action. I believe he was elected President because he looked good, could read a speech well and was black. Like all people who are out of their league, he is an ideologue. It is our misfortune that his ideology is Marxism instead of the more typical Capitalism for people running for the Presidency. I believe that his average (at best) intelligence is why he surrounds himself with people to insulate him from the public. It is also why he is so bad at making statements when the teleprompter malfunctions or is not available. If you ask Obama an unexpected question when he is off the teleprompter, he is totally lost. That is not the mark of a person with high intelligence.

Last week the US lost a new era drone over Iran. When the drone went down, the US had four options on what to do. The decision was up to our Fearless Leader, so that should give you some clue which one might be taken.

Option 1 – Send in the Special Operations Forces and retrieve the drone. This option would be risky because you have to send in enough men and material to retrieve the drone. From the pictures on Iranian TV, the drone is fairly large. That would mean a fairly large retrieval unit would be required. That would make secrecy difficult for this operation.

Option 2 – Send in the Special Operations Forces and blow up the drone. This option would be risky only in that you are sending in people to do the job. The Special Operations Forces could conceivably get in and out safely while destroying the target. This operation could conceivably be secret up and until the drone was destroyed.

Option 3 – Send in a cruise missile and blow up the drone and everything else within a short distance. This option involves no risk to people. It does involve risk that Iran may decide that destroying our drone to be an act of war. There would be no way to conceal this option once the missile was fired.

Option 4 – Do nothing and hope the Iranians do not find the drone. If they do find the drone, they do not have the technical knowhow to reverse engineer the drone and tap its computer systems.

Our Fearless Leader chose option 4. He was afraid of causing the Iranians some concern or possibly harm if they had been in the vicinity of the drone when any of the first three options were taken.

Now we are left hoping that they will be unable to tap into the drone and get all the detailed information. Hackers being what they are, the possibility of Iran hacking into the computers is rather high. They have all the time in the world to tap into the computers and there is nothing we can do to stop it.

I am surprised that the drones do not have a self-destruct system built into them for a scenario like this. They should be able to blow themselves up if they fail for any reason. That would eliminate the first three options and only give two. Blow the drone up by pushing a button or letting the country it lands in find it. That would be a no-brainer even for our Fearless Leader currently in the White House. He can always be counted on to pick the absolutely worst option for America. He showed that ability again with this decision on the drone. Now our most secret drone technology is on display for the entire world to see. We should have destroyed the drone, at a minimum, before anyone found it. Now that option is off the table. Our national security has been severely damaged and our Fearless Leader does not seem to care. He only wants to get re-elected so he can continue the destruction of everything American.

Yesterday my Senators, Jon Kyl and John McCain put out a letter that put my Sheriff (Joe Arpaio) on notice that he better get his act together on some 400 acts of sexual assault in western Maricopa County. Both Jon Kyl and John McCain are Republicans. Joe Arpaio is a Republican. For them to put out a letter like this is earth moving kind of stuff.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department is a very large Department. The county covers a very large area. Maricopa County is larger than some northeastern states. There was a problem with the second in command about six months ago. The problem existed for some time, but everything hit the fan about six months ago. The second in command was fired from his position as were a few other high ranking officers in the department. The department has been recovering from that problem for the past few months. The true extent of the problem has not been made public, but I am sure it was more extensive than the public has been allowed to know.

These sexual assaults cover the last four years. It particularly covers the town of El Mirage where the Sheriff’s Department contracts for police protection. The sexual assaults also cover the general area around El Mirage.

According to Sheriff Arpaio, the problem has been identified and they are working on bringing all the cases up to date. My guess is that people were removed from positions in order to make the cases move forward. That is a guess. It is not based on any evidence. It is based purely on my knowledge of people and how a Sheriff’s Department works. In other words, it is an educated guess.

In a department as large as Maricopa County it is impossible for any single person to have a handle on everything that is going on in the department. The Department I was on was about 1/5 the size of Maricopa County and we could not keep track of everything going on in our department. For any person to know everything going on in that department would require superhuman effort and a spy system that would make the KGB blush. Since that is not possible in Sheriff Joe’s department, I am sure that he had absolutely no idea this problem existed.

Of course, Sheriff Joe is the top person in the department and responsible for all that goes on there. He has taken responsibility and has made corrective actions. The problem is that Sheriff Joe is so good at his job, he has enemies. His enemies will jump on any problem, no matter how small and pump it up to earth shattering importance. I am not saying these sexual assaults were small; I am just making the point that to Sheriff Joe’s enemies he can do no good.

What should happen in this case is give the department some time to solve the problem. If after a suitable time period, nothing happens, then jump on Sheriff Joe. If after a suitable time progress has been made, leave things as they are.

Sheriff Joe is about 70 years old. He is probably only good for one more election before he will have to retire. For his enemies to push the envelope, they would not gain much ground. They will still not elect the Democrat of their desires. A Republican will be elected Sheriff of Maricopa County for as long as the Republicans maintain their huge majority in voters in the county. That new Republican sheriff will then feel the wrath of the current Sheriff Joe haters. The Sheriff Joe haters will never really win. They may get Sheriff Joe out of office, but that will happen in due time anyway. The person that replaces Sheriff Joe will be much like him politically and philosophically. That will not be something the Sheriff Joe haters want to hear.

With this sexual assault problem, I think people are jumping on Sheriff Joe too soon. Give him and his department some time to investigate the cases. We just found out about them a couple of weeks ago. It takes time to complete investigations, particularly so many. I think that Jon Kyl and John McCain are just covering themselves in case anything bad happens.  

On the way into work today, I listened to KFYI and the Barry Young show. They were talking about Major Nadal Hassan and his terrorist attack at Ft. Hood. Senator Susan Collins from Maine is reporting that the White House has identified Major Hassan’s attack as workplace violence instead of the terrorist attack it surely was. This White House does not really know who we are fighting. They refuse to call a terrorist a terrorist. They go all PC and call a terrorist everything, except for what he/she is.

Since this White House is unable to identify who we are fighting, they should be disqualified from running for President in 2012. If you cannot identify the enemy after 10 years of fighting, you will never be able to identify the enemy. I am not saying all Muslims are the enemy. I am saying that when a Muslim kills people while calling out, “Abu Akbar”, you have a terrorist attack. It is the Abu Akbar that puts it over the line into a terrorist attack. Workplace violence would not include the Abu Akbar portion of the attack.

The problems with Major Hassan started after he was in the military. When he joined the military, he was patriotic. After he joined, he got involved with some radical Muslims at a Mosque near Washington, D.C. After that period, he started having problems reconciling his oath to protect the United States from all enemies and his new radical Muslim understanding that all infidels should be killed. Finally, he decided that his obligation to Allah was greater than his obligation to the United States. So, he planned and carried out the plan to kill his fellow soldiers at Ft. Hood.

One question asked during the Barry Young show was, “Should all Muslims be automatically disqualified from serving in the US military in any branch?” They finally came to the conclusion that the answer was, No! The reason is that if a Muslim is not radicalized, he/she is perfectly able to serve as an honorable member of our armed services. It is the radicalized Muslims that are the problem. Weeding out the radical Muslims that sign up should be possible due to intake procedures. The problem comes in when the radicalization comes after they are already in the military, like Major Hassan. Major Hassan’s supervisors and co-workers saw the problem, but would not take action because of political correctness. In order to have Muslims in the Military, they would need to be monitored to determine if they are radicalized or not. Then, the people that make the determination have to be able to take action without fear of retribution. Without that ability to act, more Major Hassan’s are inevitable.

The current occupant in the White House has shown that he is unable to identify the enemy. That is a major problem. Members of his administration have also shown a similar lack of ability to identify the enemy. Janet Napolitano not only cannot identify the enemy, but she is unable to see that people are coming into this country illegally. Lack of identifying our problems and enemies, appears to be rampant within our government right now. That screams out for a change in the people that staff the highest levels of our government. Since the problem starts with the person occupying the top spot, President, and goes all the way down to those running departments, wholesale change is needed. If it was just a few people, we could correct that with some personnel decisions. This problem calls out for drastic action. The drastic action I am calling out for is defeat of the current administration at the polls in November 2012. We need to make sure that we are not just electing a Republican Progressive to replace the Democrat Progressive that occupies the office of President of the United States. Vetting the Republicans to weed out the Progressives is a big task. The current leader is a Republican Progressive, Newt Gingrich. He needs to be replaced with someone who is not a Progressive. It is difficult to determine who is a Progressive as they try and hide. That is why the election season is as long one. It gives us time to see which one is a Progressive and which one is not.

Yesterday, Our Fearless Leader took some time out of his 17 day vacation to go to Kansas to try and channel Teddy Roosevelt. His opening statement left people wondering what was going on. He said he was happy to be back in Texas. He was in Kansas. He selected the location. This was not some whistle stop along a campaign trail. This was a planned event that stood by itself. To make that error showed a glaring lack of concern for those in the audience. They forgave him for his error as they were already drinking the Kool-Aid.

During the speech he laid out an agenda that should chill the hearts of every freedom loving person alive. He basically said that everyone should have equality of outcome. Everyone already has equality of opportunity. We get that when we are born. At that point, we can become almost anything. From that point on, the choices we make limit our opportunities to do different things. As a result of our choices, we have a difference in outcome, but we all had an equal shot at attaining those goals.

Barack Obama wants to change that. He feels that even if you make poor choices you should have the same chance to become a brain surgeon as the person who makes all the right choices. Anyone who looks at that statement will realize how stupid it is. A person becomes a brain surgeon because of a series of choices and hard work in between. There is also talent involved, but hard work can overcome a lack of talent in most things. For example, not all major league baseball players are the most talented players. Some work harder and become good because of that hard work. The more talented players sometimes become great and sometimes become great flameouts. To say that everyone has to have the same outcome is ludicrous. Not everyone wants the same outcome.

For example, some people want to earn high salaries and be powerful people. Others put more value in their families and are willing to sacrifice the high salaries and power to achieve a happy family. That is individual choice. They all have the same opportunity at the beginning, but choose to take different paths. That people choose these different paths voluntarily is what makes the country great. But, there are some people who do not want to work to achieve high goals. They want it handed to them on a silver platter. Those are the people that Barack Obama was talking to yesterday. They are envious of other people’s success and would be willing to destroy what is good to get even.

Right now in this country about half of the population is not paying taxes. That is a very dangerous situation. When people do not pay taxes, they do not have a “stake” in the country. For them the country is about how much they can get from the government. For a person who pays taxes, there is no question of how much the government gives. They are more interested in keeping more of what they make. The only way to get sanity back into the voting process is to make everyone who votes a “stakeholder” in the country. This can be by having people sign away their voting right in order to receive government assistance. This way they get the government assistance they want without becoming toxic at the voting booth. Or, they can pay some sort of taxes thereby becoming a stakeholder. Either option would be available to everyone. Those that owe taxes would already opt for the pay taxes option and have the ability to vote. Those that receive government assistance would have the decision to make, give up the vote to receive assistance or pay some kind of tax. That would make voters more responsible.

The odds on that suggestion becoming law is somewhere between slim and none. Democrats already scream discrimination when you ask people to show id in order to vote. You have to show id in order to purchase alcohol or cigarettes, why not the most important thing you do? We all know the reason Democrats do not want people to have to show id in order to vote. They like the opportunity for voter fraud that exists right now. They can bus people from precinct to precinct and have them vote multiple times for multiple people. This gets more Democrat votes in elections. Democrats talk about suppressing minority voting, but the real problem is voter fraud by people not eligible to vote or not registered.

On the way in to work today, I listened to the Barry Young show on KFYI hosted by Barry Markson. They were talking about the payroll tax holiday the Democrats passed last year. The payroll tax holiday was for one year, so it expires at the end of this calendar year. The Democrats are claiming that the Republicans do not want to extend the tax holiday, so they want a tax increase. That is not true on its face, and not true in any way.

The issue is this: The payroll tax holiday has been agreed to by both parties. The real issue is how to “pay” for this tax holiday. The Democrats want to increase taxes on the top 10% of all tax payers. The Republicans want to have a spending cut to pay for the tax holiday. That is where the debate is and the disagreement is taking place. There is total agreement that the payroll tax holiday will be extended.

On the Barry Young show, Barry Markson was making the Democrat argument that the payroll tax holiday should be extended and the Republicans do not want to extend it. As shown above, that is not true. Some Republicans do not want to extend the tax holiday because the payroll taxes go to pay for Social Security. In 2010, Social Security was in a deficit situation for the first time. Giving a payroll tax holiday is just increasing that deficit. I know that there is no real dedicated Social Security Trust Fund.

The money for Social Security comes out of the general operating budget of the United States. So, any deficit in payroll taxes would be made up from other taxes. But, that is not really the point. The point is why increase the deficit when you do not have to increase the deficit. Payroll taxes hit every person that has a job and their employer. There are no exceptions in the payroll tax. So, this tax makes all people pay for benefits they receive. Having all people pay into the government makes them own the government just that much more.

This payroll tax holiday will be extended. The Democrats will demagogue the issue to death during the election season if it is not extended. That is why it will be extended. Let us hope that the part attached to the extension has spending cuts as the form of payment. We do not need tax increases. We do not have a revenue problem in this country. We have a spending problem. We have to get spending under control before we will be able to balance the budget.

Democrats are never serious about balancing the budget. They want higher taxes on everyone and bigger government through higher spending. As long as there is a Democrat in Washington, that will be an eternal problem. That is not saying that Republicans are that much better than the Democrats. Too many Republicans enjoy the benefits of being a Congressman or Senator and so continue the big spending programs in order to stay there. But, you are more likely to see a spending cut from a Republican than you ever will see one from a Democrat.

Glenn Beck was saying on his show the other day that of the freshmen Congressmen elected in 2010 there are only about 20 out of 70 that are still holding the line. The rest have been adopted into the culture of big spending that is Washington, D.C. That is scary. There were a lot of really good people who were elected in 2010. To see that many “fall by the wayside” this fast is scary. Let us hope the crop from 2012 will be much stronger than the crop of 2010.

Normally in this space I talk politics or science. But, there is a phenomenon occurring in the National Football League (NFL) that warrants discussion. The phenomenon is Tim Tebow and what he has done to the Denver Broncos.

Last season the Denver Broncos were a terrible team. In fact, they were so bad they got the second pick in this year’s draft. To be that bad you have to lose almost all your games. Nobody expected much of an improvement this year, primarily because they have a new coach and many of the same players. The year started off as expected. They were 1-4 after 5 games and were not nearly as good as their record indicates. Their quarterback was Greg Orton. Last year, he was one of the very few bright spots on the team. This year, he was stinking up football games big time.

After the fourth loss, the coach, John Fox, decided to try Tim Tebow a second year player with very little experience at quarterback. He had been a successful college player, but this is professional football. You have to have a certain skill set to be successful and everybody said that he did not have that skill set. Also, the lockout this off season did not help him. He could not come in and work hard to improve his game. His throwing was slow and inaccurate. When rushed in the pocket, his first thought was to run the ball, not throw it down the field. But, when he was on the field something seemed to happen to the other players. They seemed to get better.

The first game Tebow played was the end of the Chargers game in Denver. He worked hard and almost got the team to score enough points to pull the game out. The next two games, the team used a conventional game plan and Tebow was nearly killed by the furious rush. Their record after two games was 1-1. The Broncos then decided to throw out the conventional playbook and put in one designed to use Tebow’s strengths.

Then the magic started. At first, the team did not completely buy into the Tebow thing. But, Tebow managed to do miraculous things to get them to believe. As more and more of the team started to believe, the team became more and more dangerous to opposing teams. Last week in San Diego, Norv Turner of the Chargers basically gave the game away because he was afraid his quarterback would get killed. The Broncos defense became one of the best in the league instead of the worst. Their pass rush was furious. Quarterbacks have to run for their lives to avoid being sacked on every pass. The quarterbacks are now throwing the ball up for grabs and the Broncos are catching some of them for touchdowns. This is totally different than the Broncos of the past four or five years. Those Broncos hardly ever intercepted a pass and I cannot remember one for a TD.

I saw an interview with Eddie George a former running back with the Tennessee Titans; he said what is happening is that the team is buying into Tebow’s work ethic. Tebow is always the first player there and the last to leave. He does the workouts of all the different positions as well as the quarterback drills. The other players are working harder than ever and it is showing. Players who had promise but were not using it are now making the plays they should have. Players who were marginal are now becoming good. Tebow gets all the credit for making the Broncos better, but it is really all of the team coming together and working harder than all the other teams.

Their playbook may be archaic, but I am sure that no team would want to play them in the playoffs. There is no other team in the NFL that plays like the Broncos. You cannot practice for what they do, because they are unique. Also, each week they are getting better. This past week, Tebow actually had passing numbers that were respectable. He went 10-15 for 202 yards and a TD. A great QB will have numbers about twice those numbers, but in about the same percentage. So, Tebow is getting better. When the playoffs come around, the Broncos should be extremely dangerous because you cannot make Tebow pass to beat the Broncos. But, you cannot let him run, either. Right now, they are still vulnerable because Tebow is not that accurate. As his accuracy improves, the Broncos chances at making the playoffs improves as does their chance to go somewhere in the playoffs.

Coming to work today, I heard some news that tells a story about how the Democrats view abortion. It was announced that the Houston Area Democrat Party will hold their annual Christmas party at the Planned Parenthood office in Houston. That is the same office where abortions are performed. That is a wonderful thing to highlight when you are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ and his life is a celebration of life. Everything about Jesus Christ was about life and how to live a good life. To hold a Christmas party at Planned Parenthood or any other abortion clinic is to mock Jesus Christ. Abortion is about death. Everything about abortion is death. When a woman goes in for an abortion at least one person comes out of the operation dead. Sometimes two people come out of an abortion dead. I will agree that deaths of the mother are rather rare these days, but they still happen far too often.

I am sure that the Democrats do not see the irony in their holding a Christmas party at a Planned Parenthood office. They just feel it is having the party at a supporter’s office and everything is just fine. But the underlying message it sends is profound. It says how little value the Democrats put on life. To Democrats, having children is a problem. Abortion is to be celebrated because it frees women from the obligation of having to care for children. Having this Christmas party at the abortion clinic just screams this message to everyone with ears and eyes. Democrats are deaf and blind when it comes to issues of life. That is why they are unable to see how this party is damaging to their image in the eyes of the public.

To my wife, she would have done anything for her children before they were born. She was even willing to sacrifice her life to give her boys the opportunity at life. She proved that with our third child. In having him, we almost lost her. The doctor had the hospital call him every hour all night long after our son was born because he was afraid some emergency would happen. He did not tell us his concerns until after the danger had passed. But, my wife was perfectly willing to sacrifice her life to give her son life. She said that she knew she was in trouble, but knew that she had done the right thing. She knew that if she lost her life, that her son would have the gift of life that only she could give him. I of course, was a basket case. The thought of losing my wife was almost more than I could take. But her strength helped me understand the underlying message that the gift of life is so important that you have to be willing to sacrifice if the need arises.

That is one reason I have such a difficult time understanding women who go in for abortions. Knowing how precious a life is and how much it means to bring a life into the world, how could you voluntarily end that life? When I see people show their disdain for life by throwing abortion in my face, I feel sorry for them. They obviously do not understand how important it is that they give this person life. The Democrats at this Christmas party will not understand that they are showing disrespect for the Jesus that they are supposedly honoring. Christmas is honoring Jesus Christ and his birth. The people attending this party think they are doing that. They are really honoring abortion and spitting in the eye of Jesus and every Christian in the world. “Choose you this day who you will serve. As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua) They should take that message and mull it over prior to holding any Christmas party at an abortion clinic.

Ann Coulter wrote another great article yesterday. In the article, she summarizes the claims by the various women against Herman Cain. In the summary, all the women have one thing in common. Their credibility is definitely compromised prior to making the claim. Each one has financial trouble at this time. Each one has made claims like this against prior employers. Each one has ties, either directly or indirectly, to David Axelrod. The list goes on and on. Also, each of the claims comes from a three year period in Herman Cain’s life when he served as President of the Restaurant Association.

It is interesting that the head of the Illinois Restaurant Association is a close confidant of David Axelrod. She has access to Herman Cain’s records when he was President of the National Restaurant Association. It is just too coincidental that all the claims come from this narrow period in his life. If there were validity to the claims, they would have been spread over a much longer period of time. Why was he completely clear during the rest of his life and only abusive with women during a three year period? Just asking that question raises serious doubts about the validity of the claims.

Another point that Ann Coulter brought up is that these women have no evidence to back up their claims. The best evidence is Ginger Wright. She has cell phone numbers and records of telephone calls between the two. That is far less than the accusers of Bill Clinton had and the main stream press ignored their claims as having no validity. Gennifer Flowers had tapes of phone conversations with Bill Clinton’s voice saying damning things. But still, that was not enough for the main stream press. These women have no evidence at all to back up their claims. Even Monica Lewinsky had lots of evidence of Bill Clinton’s infidelity with her, including the semen stained dress.

You have to wonder why the difference in coverage. One group of women had lots of evidence, including testimony from people from the original time period. The other has nothing in the way of evidence that would back up what they say. The group with the evidence is dismissed as being unimportant and the group without the evidence is being treated as truth tellers.

The difference is who is being targeted. The women with the evidence targeted Bill Clinton, a darling of the press. The press was not going to allow anyone to sully Bill Clinton’s name regardless of what information or evidence they had to back up their claims. The women making claims against Herman Cain are making claims against a conservative black man. In the eyes of the main stream press, a conservative black man is guilty just because he is a conservative black man. Any claim, no matter how baseless, will be given full treatment as if they were backing it up with sworn testimony of thousands.

There is no doubt that the press is biased in their reporting. If you look at their reports for any length of time, you see a pattern that develops. Anything that supports a left wing socialist agenda is brought forth with gusto. Anything that goes against a left wing socialist agenda is not reported on at all. If it does get reported on because it is so momentous that they have to, the report is put at the end and given short shrift. Anything that brings down conservative politicians or puts them in a bad light is put at the front of a telecast. Anything that might bring down a liberal politician or puts them in a bad light is ignored or put at the end of a broadcast. This has been going on for years. Conservatives have been complaining about it for years. The main stream press continues to insist that they are impartial and do not do what they are accused of. But, any impartial judgment of their news reporting will agree with my assessment.

Ann Coulter’s assessment of the claims of these women is that they are most likely being put up to the task by David Axelrod or his operatives. That would fit the MO that David Axelrod has used in the past. That is how Barack Obama became a US Senator. They are trying it out to see if it works to keep him as a President. Let’s not let it work this time.

Herman Cain is reassessing his campaign. According to his campaign manager, that just means that they are looking at campaign strategy, not whether to stay in the race. I hope Herman Cain does stay in the race and that the allegation of an affair is not true.

On the surface, it does appear like Herman Cain did have an affair with Ginger White. She has a cell phone with his private cell phone number on it. When she talked to reporters, they called the number and Herman Cain called back a short time later. That establishes that she knew Herman Cain well enough to have his private number. For me, there are very few who have my cell phone number. I would assume that the same would be true for Herman Cain.

The second thing that Ginger has to prove the validity of her story is that she has phone records that show phone calls between Herman Cain and her going back some time. The earliest call listed was at 4:26 am and the latest at about 8 pm. This also establishes that she knew Herman very well. It does not prove an affair, but it does show that her relationship with Herman Cain was not just as an acquaintance. .

Herman Cain says that she has been a long-time friend, nothing more. That will be difficult to prove. She says that there were extra-curricular activities involved, he says no. Who is telling the truth? Is it possible that the real truth is somewhere in between what each is saying? We will probably never know.

One thing that remains troubling about all the allegations from women is that they all happened when Herman Cain was President of the Restaurant Association. That was a three year period in his life, yet all the allegations come from this time period. Did something happen during this time to change him into somebody different? How can he be a Boy Scout type before being President of the Restaurant Association and again after he was President of the association. But, while he was President of the Restaurant Association, he was a womanizer. Something here just does not look right. If he is what these allegations are saying, then the behavior would have been repeated prior to the Restaurant Association and after. But, it seems that incidents only happened while at the Restaurant Association. Of course, the Democrats have a source very close to the Restaurant Association who is connected to David Axelrod. Their sources before and after are not as connected to David Axelrod so therefore not able to come out.

For those who have forgotten, David Axelrod is the man who manufactured the sexual harassment charges against Barack Obama’s Senate primary opponent and his Republican challenger in the general election. Those charges were eventually found out to be false, but the political damage had already been done and Barack Obama was in the US Senate. All these charges are just too neat and the connections to David Axelrod too close for me to truly believe them. They sound credible, but that is because David Axelrod has learned how to put out better sexual harassment charges.

What Herman Cain needs to do is step forward and articulate a coherent foreign policy plan that removes the disasters that Obama has created. If he does this, he can regain some of the momentum that he lost with the bimbo eruptions manufactured by David Axelrod. Herman Cain is a much more reliable conservative than Newt Gingrich. If he starts to regain the momentum, Newt’s support will drop like a rock. Newt is just getting the "anybody but Romney" support right now. They will go and support anybody who they think can defeat Romney.
