Republican Backlash

With Democrat ads telling lies and liberal judges telling us what to do, many people are thinking twice about their commitment to this election. Where they might have said that they would sit this one out, that is no more. They can see that there is an urgency to what they say with their votes.

If Republicans sit this election out, Democrat politicians will be elected. If they get elected, lots of things most Republicans would like will be taken away. Taxes will go up. Judges will have to be more liberal to be confirmed. Gay marriage will be commonplace throughout the country. Most US citizens do not want those things to happen They like taxes low. They want judges that will interpret the law, not make law. They want marriage to be between a man and a woman. They do not want marriage between a man and a man or a woman and a woman.

As a result of this realization, many Republicans are now deciding to go to the polls on November 7. That bodes well for Republican candidates. Republicans will win more elections. They should take a lesson from this election. The public is unhappy. They need to spend the next two years giving the public the things it wants. If Republicans return to being Republicans, then 2008 will be a sterling year for Republican candidates. There may even be a veto proof congress. Of course, they would not need one with the Republican President.

Another fallout from a Republican victory this year would be terrorists losing heart. They would know that they would have a minimum of two more years before they could make changes in the US. It may even allow us to actuallly have some real success in the war on terror. I would be naive to think that the war on terror would be solved. But, we could have some highly successful years ahead of us if we actually follow what is right and elect Republicans.

Some of the preceding may be wishful thinking. I still believe that the Republicans will hold the House and Senate. It may be razor thin of a margin, but they will prevail. Any Republican victory that stops the Democrat party from taking over will have enormous impacts within the country. The Democrat leadership will be in disarray. They have been declaring victory for weeks now. To have defeat handed to them instead of victory, heads will have to roll. It will be fun to watch. I would love to see who comes out on top. The implications will be felt in 2008 and beyond. Good!

Activist Judges

Activist judges in New Jersey have given the citizens of New Jersey what the citizens of Mass. didn't want, Gay Marriage. Of course, they said that the legislature has six months to determine exactly what to call the Gay unions. That makes two states. How many more states will fall before people wake up and realize that judges and trying to impose things people would never vote for. Judges are substituting their morality for the law. The worst part is that other judges are letting them get away with it.

This verdict coming at this time should wake up many Republican voters to get out and vote. If they do not want Gay marriage in their state, they need to vote. We need to elect legislators that have the guts to make laws that will reign in the judges. We need to appoint judges that will uphold the law, not make the law. That is why it is so important to vote for Len Munsil for Governor in Arizona. He will appoint judges that will follow the law. They will judge based on the laws the legislature has passed. They will not step outside the law and substitute their morality for the law.

It has happened in our state when the judge in Tucson threw out Prop. 200. It happened at the court of appeals when they upheld the illegal action of the judge in Tucson. Thankfully, the Supreme Court upheld the law, at least for now. We will find out how they will rule later in the court session. I have faith in Thomas, Scalia, Roberts and Alito followinig the law. The rest go one way and the other, with most of them following what they feel like at the time. Justice Kennedy sometimes gets it right and helps make a majority. He sometimes gets liberal disease and loses sight of the Constitution of the United States of America.

This election is not just about who will be our legislators. It is about who will be our judges. We need judges to follow the law. We need to elect people who will appoint judges that will follow the law. The only way to insure that, is to vote Republican. I hope the verdict in New Jersey will be a wake-up call for all Americans to vote Republican or you may get the same thing in your state. Of course, it may already be too late to stop it in your state, but we can stop it at the Supreme Court and repeal these illegal acts by activist judges. Make your stand. Vote Republican and stop the gay agenda from being implemented without a vote of the people.

Honesty in Politics

An honest politician is hard to find. It is the nature of the profession that enables the politician that is a stranger to the truth to succeed. The election season is short. A lie usually takes some time to uncover. By the time the truth gets out, the politician that has uttered the truth has had years to spread their filth. The redress allowed is usually so small that it is to a politician's advantage to be a stranger to the truth.

With today's internet it is easier to discover the truth. A politician that has lied today, can sometimes be found out prior to the election. This can have serious consequences to the politician if the news gets out wide enough. If the politician in question is an incumbant, they can supress the information enough to get elected again. If the person is a challenger, there is little chance. If the person is a Democrat, there is a good chance to supress. If the person is a Republican, the news will be spread from the highest rooftops.

Politics has not caught up with the speed of the internet, yet. Things that would take months or years to uncover can now take minutes or at most days. A politician has to be more careful when being a stranger to the truth today. One politician, Patty Wetterling in Minnesota, wanted to push for Republican corruption. She took the Foley scandal and added her own touches to the information. When the commercial hit the airwaves, the response was immediate. Her lies were caught and denounced. She has defended them. It would have been better to blame the ad agency and fire them.

Patty Wetterling expected that by the time the truth came out, she would be elected. She forgot about the speed of the internet. Every commercial aired by every candidate is screened by people from all walks of life. Any lies are quickly found and debunked. Candidates need to get with the 21st century technology. Expect instant analysis of all their commercials and all campaign information.

It is always best to be truthful in all you do. If you tell the truth, you do not have to have as good a memory as someone who tells lies. If you tell lies, you have to remember who you told what to. That can be a difficult thing if you tell many lies. Candidates should remember that old idea. It is especially true in this day of instant analysis by people on the internet. Bloggers will analyze anything.

Endorsement

Today, I was introduced to a new site called Right Roots. It is a site to help elect candidates that believe in the constitution. Right now, it is a small organization. It will grow as more and more people learn about the good work the people are doing there at RightRoots.com. http://rightroots.com/  is the link to help that good organization. They need people to go there and pledge to help elect good people to the House of Representatives and the Senate.

Voting

Voting is important to the functioning of the American experiment. We need people to voice their opinion about issues and candidates to chart our future. But, we also expect that those opinions be opinions based on reason.

A vote that is cast without doing homework is a vote that is wasted. Was that really the best person for the job? If we vote just by reaction and not by reason, that is the question we have to ask ourselves. Too often in society people get elected by people voting in the election that are told who to vote for. That demeans the person who voted and the person voted for.

We hear stories of Democrats taking a bus into poor neighborhoods, picking up poor people and delivering them to the polls with the instruction to vote for a particular person. We are also told of people unable to figure out how to use the voting equipment at every election. Is it any wonder that we sometimes get people elected who should not be elected?

Every person who takes the time to register to vote should also take the time to learn about the issues and the candidates. Then compare their position on the issues with what the person believes. The vote should be cast to reflect the wishes of the voter. But, the wishes of the voter also have to consider what is best for their town, county, state and for the USA. All these issues have to come together to form the best candidate to vote for.

In recent years, the Republican party has had almost a lock on the best candidate. It is the rare Democrat that can be better than the Republican. Part of that is the poor stance on the issues that the Democrat party takes.

Competition

Competition is a good thing in life. It helps us achieve goals and improve. It is fun to compete against others. Even political competition is fun. It gets the juices flowing and the emotions going.

Today, we do not have competion between the two parties the way it should be. The competition should be in the arena of ideas. Today, the Democrat party is playing competition in the arena of gotcha. That demeans the political process. It gets poor candidates into office and lowers the level of debate between candidates. The Democrat party only seems to be able to win an election if they get some "dirt" on the other candidate. That is not right. We do not have perfect people running for office. We have imperfect people trying to make a difference in their world.

An example of a politician avoiding an issue is our illustrous governor. The Arizona memorial for the victims of 9/11 contains things that are anti-american in its display. People objected to the memorial from the day it went up. The Republican challenger, Len Munsil announced that he objected to the memorial and he would tear it down and replace it with one more respectful of the victims of 9/11. Well, everyone jumped on him for saying that. The chair of the commission even admitted that people could take offense at the display.

Our Governor, Janet  Napolitano, has decided that this needs to be decided away from an election. She has said she will recall the commission after the election to look at the display and determine if something needs to be done. This same commission almost put a tribute to the terrorists on the display. They were stopped at the last minute by someone thinking clearly.

Our governor a few years ago thought that a memorial to a soldier was so important that she ignored several laws to get a peak renamed for the soldier. I agree that soldiers should have important memorials. The victims of 9/11 should have a memorial that honors their name. They should not have a memorial that honors people that have anti-american feelings. It is also the only display in the park that does not have an American flag.

We need an honest and open debate on the issues of the day. We should not brush them under the rug and say we will talk about them when nobody is looking. That is the way bad things happen. Things that are important should be discussed when the public is looking. Then correct decisions will be made and everyone will be happy.

It is time to cross the broken glass

There comes a time in history where it is important for a people to stand up and be counted. Now is such a time in the United States. We have a Republican party that has strayed from its foundation. It has become the party of big government. We have a Democrat party that is given over to leftest extremists that would sell us out to islamic terrorists in a nanosecond.  What is a voter to do?

We cannot trust the Democrat party to do the right thing. If they get in charge, the country will be in for a very dangerous time period. They want us to cut and run from the War on Terror in Iraq. When we do that, the terrorists will make short work of the valient few left in Iraq. Then with a government to work with, they would start exporting terrorism to other countries, read the US. Bombs would start exploding all over the US. People would die by the thousands. They would die a few at a time, but the total would reach thousands in a few months. Other countries would cease to respect us and our commitments. We would become isolated from the world community. Our troops would have full-time jobs killiing terrorists everywhere. That everywhere would include within the United States.

That is a scenario that I do not wish on me or my family. I love my family. I do not wish them harm. I am voting Republican and any thinking person is also voting Republican this election season. Of course, not every voter thinks. Many voters just go and do what they are told. Those voters give us Democrat politicians. Democrats always suspect Republicans of telling voters what to do. That is what they do and they expect Republicans to do the same thing. They could not be farther from the truth. Republicans require their voters to actually think. That gets us in trouble from time to time, but in the long run is the best option.

I hope that more Republicans felt as I do. It would be gratifying to see a Republican groundswell in November. That would be great to see the Democrat pundits scratching their heads over their inability to talk the Republicans into sitting this election out. It would also be great to see the Democrat leaders in disarray over their inability to deliver on their promises of a Democrat sweep this November. That may be wishful thinking, but it is wishful thinking for the United States.

Politics of Personal Destruction

As the election season gets into the home stretch, it has to be noted the difference in approach by the two parties. The Republicans appeal to the thinking person. They try to get you to think about the issues and make a decision for the office based on positions on the issues.

Democrats do not put any emphasis on the issues. They are concerned with destroying the person they are running against. If that starts to be effective, the campaign turns ugly. In Arizona, there are two examples. In the Hayworth/Mitchell race, things are starting to tighten up. Mitchell has been throwing mud at Hayworth for the past two months. Some of it must be sticking as the polls are showing the two candidates closing. As a result, JD Hayworth has started responding to Mitchell's ads with dirt of his own. Mitchell has had to embellish his dirt. JD Hayworth only has to tell the truth to get true dirt. As a result, the campaign is slugging it out in the deepest trenches. It will not mattter which candidate wins, they will both be tarnished by the mud. That is a shame. JD Hayworth is a good stand-up guy. He deserves better than to have mud slung his way by Harry Mitchell. Mitchell will not discuss the issues at all.

In the Senate race, Jim Pederson is slinging mud much faster than Harry Mitchell ever thought. Pederson's problem is that he is going up against one of, if not the, most honorable men in the US Senate. Nothing is sticking to Jon Kyl. Every charge by Jim Pederson makes him look more and more like the fool he is. As a result, Jon Kyl has spent the entire campaign talking about the issues. He will be well positioned on the issues after the election. The polls show that Jim Pederson losing ground to Jon Kyl the more dirt he throws.

The difference between the two is that JD Hayworth took some money from Jack Abramoff prior to 1999. Harry Mitchell has been playing this up for all it is worth. People know about the Jack Abramoff scandal and think that JD might be involved. There is no chance that JD Hayworth is involved in any Abramoff scandal. Harry Mitchell was convicted of influence peddling while Mayor of Tempe. People seem to have forgotten that. JD is hitting that button very hard. Mitchell has been convicted of corruption. JD Hayworth has not been convicted or even accused of any wrong doing, except by Harry Mitchell.

Races like the one that Harrry Mitchell is running make me sick. I am so tired of the politics of personal destruction. Democrats always say they are against the politics of personal destruction. Who are the first ones to play politics of personal destruction? The Democrats. It just shows you that when a Democrat accuses you of something, you know he/she has already done it to you.

It reminds me of a time when I was in a position in North Dakota. I had to work with someone who was jealous of my position. He would push me into a corner until I had two options, stand my ground or resign. I would stand my ground. Then he would go to my supervisor and complain that I was being difficult to work with. I was obstructing his ability to work with me. My supervisor, who was never present, would always sit on me hard. Later, after I moved to another position. They put a "golden boy" into the position. Well, guess what happened next? The same thing happened to him that happened to me. It made me feel vindicated. But it took way too long for my supervisor to find out and clear my name.

Democrat Win?

Thinking about the prospects of the Democrats winning the White House scare me. I was reading the Paul Weyrich article and he posed the question of what would happen if the Democrats won the White House?

In times past, it mattered which party won the White House. But, if the other party won, you knew the country would be led by people who had the interests of the country at heart. With today's Democrat party, you know that they do not care one whit about the United States. They only care about their interests. If the US should disappear tomorrow, the average leftist Democrat would not care. He/she would be more concerned with how many babies they could kill today. Or they would be concerned with how many of the rights of the other people they could remove.

As recently as Bill Clinton, you got people in charge that at least nominally cared about the United States. They may have completely stupid ideas on how to do it, but they were trying to do what they felt was right. We are paying for their mistakes today. They are trying to cover for their mistakes. They are rewriting history in order to make themselves look at least innocuous. That is a tall order. There are too many people alive today that remember the 1990's. That is only 7-16 years ago, but people have very short attention spans.

Today's Democrats took over in 2000. In Al Gore's attempt at the White House he included many from the far left. When he lost, the far left felt they did not get their message out enough. They have spent six years working to get their message out. Their message is that it is all George Bush's fault for everything. If it were not for George Bush, everything would be perfect. They have no new ideas, they just react to what other people suggest. This gives them the ability to act superior and denigrate other people's ideas. In reality, they have no ideas and if confronted, they change the subject.

Bob Casey of Pennsylvania is the ideal 21st century Democrat candidate. He says nothing. He does nothing. He stands for nothing. When confronted, he gets indignant and blames it all on his opponent. Jim Pederson is trying to pull off a poor man's Bob Casey. Jim Pederson's problem is that he actually says things. The things he says are incredibly stupid. But he says things. Bob Casey does not make that mistake. He makes sure he cannot be quoted on anything. I believe that he will be the new model for the 21st century Democrat candidate. This will be especially true if he wins. If he wins, we will only see that type of Democrat candidate. They are hard to run against. They cannot be pinned down on anything. I admire Rick Santorum. He at least is trying to pin Bob Casey down on something, anything. I am not sure if he has succeeded. You at least have to give Rick Santorum an award for trying.

Janet Napolitano is pulling off a Bob Casey in the governor's race in Arizona. Len Munsil cannot pin her down on anything. She has not said anything quotable in the entire campaign. She has just relied on her position as Governor to win the election. I am afraid that it just might be enough for her to win. That would mean four more years of the bumbling of the Napolitano years.

Adversity Response

Adversity is something that we all face from time to time. Our response to adversity tells you a lot about who you are and your value system.

In the past, we have had movies taken from our collection of VCR tapes. We were angry that the tapes were taken. But, we did not dwell on the loss of the tapes. We just picked up where we were and went on. We counted the movies as a loss and considered ourselves lucky that we did not suffer a more severe loss.

We have seen others that when confronted with adversity become destroyed. They allow the loss of things to destroy their piece of mind. Once something is gone by theft or destruction, there is nothing you can do to bring it back. You can replace the item with a similar item, but cannot replace the original.

When my wife had her wedding ring stolen, she was devastated. The ring meant a lot to her. The diamond was a family heirloom. The ring itself was a mother's ring with stones for each of our children. She could have allowed the loss to effect other aspects of her life. She decided the ring was a loss and there was nothing she could do to bring it back. We went out and tried to replace the ring as best we could. The diamond was replaced with one that was of a higher quality. I told her that she deserved a higher quality diamond in her ring. The mother's ring was harder to replace. We found one that was similar. The stones used in this ring are of a higher quality than those in the old ring. All in all, the new ring is more valuable than the old ring.

Things can be replaced. People cannot be replaced. If it is a choice between a thing and a person, the person wins every time. I have seen people choose the thing over the person. It always shocks me when people choose things over people. I guess it just shows the value system in place at the time. I value people. I will always choose people over things. Others value things more than people. They will choose things over people. I will never understand those people.

North Korea Problem

On the way home from work I was listening to the Dennis Prager show. He was talking about the problem with North Korea. He was pointing out that China and South Korea have not signed on to sanctions for North Korea. He said the reason is that they do not want the government in North Korea to fall. The reason they do not want the government to fail is that they cannot handle the problem of the 22 million starving people that would be left.

Feeding the people would be relatively easy. There is enough food and we could get it there fast enough to feed them. We could even get crops in the ground and allow them to feed themselves within a year.

The problem is that the people have been held in captivity for over 60 years. They have been brain washed. They can only get North Korean propaganda for news. If they were suddenly presented with alternatives, they would not know what do do. There was a similar problem when East Germany collapsed and West Germany had to assimilate the East Germans into their economy. It took 10+ years before they were really one country. There are still some vestages of that today, almost 25 years later. East Germany was a garden compared to North Korea.

North Korea is a barren wasteland. They have nothing. They produce nothing. They believe everything they are told. To put these people onto the economies of South Korea and China would cause major problems for both. To give them the vote like in South Korea would be to invite disaster. Promise them anything and they will give their vote. No, there would have to be a transition period where there was education. The people would have to have a massive education program before being allowed into the world. The young would learn fast. The old may never learn.

The thoughts that Dennis Prager laid out were chilling. He basically said that we will never be able to change the government in North Korea. That scares me. There are crazy people running that country. What would they be willing to do? It might take a war to get rid of them and that was not easy the last time. It was difficult in the extreme. In fact, we almost did not win.

Voting

Voting by mail has sure made voting easy. It used to be that only those that were not going to be present in the voting area were allowed to vote by mail. Then, you had to use special adhesive dots. That was much more difficult than voting by mail today.

Today, I just had to color in a line between two large black lines. Once I connected the two large black lines with a line from a roller ball pen or a #2 pencil, I was done. It was easy to register each individual vote. Now voting in Arizona this year took some time, as there were a ton of ballot measures this year.

Voting by mail has changed the parameters of elections. It used to be that there was a last push just prior to the election. Every candidate had to get the message out in the last few days. Now, my vote has been cast. Any candidate sending his/her message to me is wasting his/her effort. There is no way for me to tell them that is the case. My wife and I both received ballots. I have voted. She still has to vote.

Candidates that send my wife information are still sending it to a voter that has not voted. Candidates that send it to me are sending it to a voter that has voted. That is a dilemma. The best way is to still send the information and hope the person is still undecided.

I received some campaign literature on the Senate race this weekend. I was appalled at Jim Pederson's lowering himself to lie about Jon Kyl. In order for Jim Pederson to have any issues, he has to lie about Jon Kyl. If he tells the truth about Jon Kyl, Jon Kyl would win with 90% of the vote. He has to try to fool voters into voting for him. What a shame that he has to do that. There should be some rule that you have to tell the truth in a campaign. There isn't a rule and shouldn't be a rule. It just makes me angry to see a good man's good name be dragged through the mud in a campaign.

Just for the record, I voted for Jon Kyl, Jeff Flake and liberty. Liberty means I voted against all the ballot measures that would put additional restrictions on Arizonans.

Prospects in November

Looking at prospects in November for retention of the House of Representatives and the Senate is problematic 24 days away from an election. But, pundits are looking at the prospects every day, why not me. I am a blogpundit.

In Arizona, my guess is that we will maintain what we have. We will return Republicans to Congress where we had them and Democrats where we were too stupid to elect Republicans. We will most likely re-elect our awful Democratic Governor. That means Jon Kyl will return to the Senate. He is a very honorable man and deserves to get 100% of the vote. When I had some problems a few years ago, he took the time to help me unwind the red tape that was holding up my problem. He could have ignored my small problem, but he didn't.

Jeff Flake will be returned to the House of Representatives in my house district. He is running almost unopposed. The other big house race in Arizona is J.D. Hayworth and Harry Mitchell. That race will also turn out in JD's favor. He it too popular in his district and across the state. Harry Mitchell's attempt to picture JD as an out of touch radical has failed. It has made Harry Mitchell look like a fool. Of course, that was no great problem. Harry Mitchell has always acted like a fool.

For Governor, Len Munsil has soundly defeated Janet Napolitano at every debate held so far. It will not matter much. She has perfected the good old boy approach to politics and he cannot seem to break through the facade. She is a true liberal and out of touch with the average voter in the state. But, she keeps that well hidden. When it does get exposed the news media covers it up quickly and hounds Len Munsil into silence. Unless something good happens in the next three weeks, I am afraid Len Munsil will go down to defeat. He is a far better candidate than she is, he just is having a hard time selling his ideas to the state.

As long as we return a Republican majority to the state legislature, we can live with a Democrat governor. It is a problem, but we have survived four years and can probably survive four more years. It is just a shame that things that could happen will not because she will stop progress.

Nationally, I think things have turned in the Republican's favor. North Korea setting off nuclear devices changed the debate back to national security. That will help Republicans maintain control in the House and in the Senate. We must have that to keep the war on terror going. If we lose the House and Senate, the war on terror will be lost. Then we can expect terrorist bombings in the United States. Then it will not be good to be living in the United States. We reap what we sow. If we sow the seeds of defeat in this election, we will reap the crop of misery and woe that will occur. We can change the future. Our choice will be made this November 7th. Let's hope that the US voter sees what will happen after they vote. They should be able to see what would happen after a Democrat vote and a Republican vote. Then they should vote for what will be best for the US. For me the choice is obvious.

Harry Reid

The Democrats would do well to replace Harry Reid with someone else soon. Harry Reid is coming up with a large corruption problem. The land deal where he made a cool $1.1 million is coming under closer looks. The closer looks are making this deal look even worse than the first looks.

At least two of the people on the county commission that approved the rezoning were political cronies of Harry Reid. They are also going to jail on bribery charges. That does not make his financial transaction look any better.

There is some question as to whether his son was on the county commission prior to the approval. My understanding of his son's county commission experience is that it has been for a few years. Whether it goes back far enough to pick up this transaction or not is still in question. My belief is that Harry Reid took his name off the property to hide his interest in the property. Then, when it came up to a vote, his "friends" and son could claim that they did not know he had any interest in the land. His name was not on the paperwork. At least that is how I believe the transaction went down. It makes perfect sense for it to go down that way. Everything fits the scenario. There are no loose ends. There are no unanswered questions. The only real question is whether his son was on the commission at the time.

Harry obviously knows something is not right. He refuses to answer questions about the transaction. He probably refuses to answer questions, because he knows what he did was illegal. Since it was illegal, he could spend some time working at hard time. Since he does not want that to happen, he has to clam up and not talk. It makes for uninteresting news stories, it does make bloggers like me go wild with speculation. We can speculate on any scenario we like and he has to take it. He only has to hope that none of us actually hit on the truth. Of course, the truth will come out eventually. When it does, the Democrats and particularly Harry Reid will be very sorry. Republicans will bask in the glow of knowing the lead Democrat in the Senate went down to corruption.

Since Nevada is a "Red" state, it would be a good chance to pick up the seat for the Republicans. Particularly after having a scandal involving the Democratic party machine in Nevada. They would have a hard time fielding a credible candidate for an election. That would be something to see. Of course, it might be the next Governor who would appoint Harry's replacement. I hope Jim Gibbons wins in November. That would help a lot when Harry has his problem with corruption.

The odds on Harry Reid going to jail are extremely small. Most likely he would be given a chance to plea to some lesser charge and resign from the Senate. That would satisfy most of the people. Of course, he would be expected to cooperate in any investigation. If that implicated his friend, then that is where the chips would fall. I am sure that Harry would implicate others to stay out of the slammer. Anyone who has been in positions of power like he has would never wish to be behind bars. They would usually do almost anything to avoid the possibility of serving time.

I do not wish Harry Reid anything bad. I would be happy that the seat would be Republican instead of Democrat. I would not be happy to have Harry Reid disgraced. He has done what he has felt was for the best. This has meant selling his soul to the devil the past few years, but he still believes in what he is doing.

Dingy Harry and Corruption

Earlier this year, Harry Reid tried to pin corruption charges on the Republicans. He likened the Republicans cleaning up the corruption to John Gotti cleaning up the Mob. Well, it seems that Harry Reid had his finger in the corruption pot all along.

As the facts are coming out, here is my understanding. Harry Reid purchased some land in Las Vegas for $400,000. A couple of years later, he sold that land for $400,000 to a good friend's company. So far, no problem with him doing anything wrong. But, he reports that he owns the land on his Senate reporting form. Does he own the land or did he sell the land? Four years later, his friend sells the land and gives Harry Reid $1.1 million in profit.

The land was always private land. It joined land that was public land that was sold to Harry's friend. There is no problem with a friend of a Senator buying land. Even land next to the land owned by the Senator. People that know each other frequently buy land adjacent to one another. The land was zoned for houses. Harry and his friend applied to the Las Vegas County Commissioners for a rezoning to commercial property. Again, there is no problem with requesting the rezoning.

One problem is that Harry's son is a County Commissioner in Las Vegas and ruled on the land owned by, or maybe not owned by, his Father. I have not heard accurate time lines. I am not sure when the land rezoning request was made. It may have been made while Harry was an owner or after he sold the property. My guess is that the sale of the property was on paper. Harry still owned the property, but had to divest himself of the property, on paper,  because his son is a County Commissioner. That way there was no conflict of interest for Harry's son. He could rule and even argue in favor of the rezoning and would be considered pure. Did he know of his Father's interest in the property? It would make sense that he did. My children know of my investments. I am sure that Harry's children basicallly know of all of his investments also.

When the land sold, Harry received his cut of the proceeds. He never expected anyone to question the investment. It was done with a long time friend and was done with a handshake. But on paper, Harry did not own the property when he received the $1.1 million. Why did he receive the payment? Was it a payoff like Hillary Clinton's cattle future's?

Harry Reid has a lot of explaining to do. He hung up on a reporter when questioned about this. That is a good way to make sure that reporters investigate it further. We will learn about the details of this transaction. If he is involved with corruption, he should be removed from the Senate. He should also probably spend some time on the inside of some jail somewhere. If he did nothing wrong, we should be given the full details as soon as possible. If there is nothing to hide, the truth will come out quickly. If there is something to hide, the truth will come out slowly.

There is one thing I have learned about Democrats. If they accuse Republicans of doing something, you can guarantee that the Democrats are doing it. The Republicans probably are not doing it, but the Democrats are. The Democrats made a big deal of accusing the Republicans of corruption. It is sounding more and more like the Democrats are the ones involved in the corruption.
